Anybody fitted a USB port for sat nav / phone charger on there Gen1 ?
Any issues with electrics or battery after ? Planning on a long ride this weekend to the ace cafe then the Brighton run and a charger could be handy |

I used to run a sat-nav from a usb port without any problems. Now I have the sat-nav plugged into the Optimate battery charger socket, I just plug it in before a ride and unplug it afterwards, never had any issues. Also I've used heated gloves in winter in the past but only for a maximum of 1 hour at a time, I've no idea if the battery would support longer use.

Thanks guys was worried that the charging system might throw a fit , not like aprilia electrics ever play up
Like the optimate idea though,At least it can be unplugged to stop any draining while stood |

I used to have a lead permanently connected under the rear seat with no probs, only difference was I had a car cigarette lighter socket on the end rather than USB
Advantage of that was you could plug in anything,I had a permanent USB lead running to the front of the bike with a car charger lead on the back end, just plugged the two together when I needed it |

I have an optimate plug in USB module. It goes in your standard optimate cables, and limits current if the voltage starts to drop, so no flat battery.

I ran heated grips on my Gen 1 for years and they never caused an issue with the electrics. I know they are not a USB port but the current draw is the same. No Issues.
The Factory 1100 T comes with wiring for a USB built in to the wiring harness. I used it when I toured round Northern France. It was ideal for recharging my phone when taking loads of pics and using it as sat nav.
