I JUST managed it a month or so ago. Wasn't trying but flung it enthusiastically into a bend and thought I felt the peg hit the ground. But on closer inspection there was a big scratch the full length of the slider Smile First and only time but I hope lots of track riding next year will see it happen regularly!

Good luck with that,I've been giving it a go today but in spite of cornering at about the same speed as others my knee remains stubbornly well airborne Embarrassed

There were guys cornerside taking pics today so hopefully some shots may look as if I was at least interested in trying to get a move on.

I did notice that yesterday that your feet are always hanging down. You have your heels against the peg!

You should always ride with the balls of your feet on the pegs.

Check this thread out for some style and body positioning hints..

(The 1st pic is the best of course!)

I don't really try and get my knee down on the road as you do need a lot of commitment and its too risky on the road. Don't get me wrong I'll crank it over but you have to it steady!

Thanks for all the advice and tips guys, I was back out this morning and was getting MUCH closer now that I'am hanging one cheek off the bike, I've also found I'am now JUST starting to experience little things with the suspension that I've never noticed before too. . . .

Nicky, line your body up with the mirror, get your body lower and get your forearms parallel to the road, then lean the bike over more, I don't think the Burnham bends are at all ideal as I've never had my knee down on them, too bloody dodgy in my opinion though there are a couple of local roundabouts that have a good surface but you really need to get on a track to do it the easy way, and even then a lot don't manage it, just remember Brands Indy is your local friend.

Cheers for the tips gazza Big smile

I don't practise anything on the Burnham bends as like you, I think they are a bit too dodgy unless your going down there at 5am on a sunny summers morning lol lol lol

I am going to do as many track days at Snetterton if I can coz believe it or not, it's actually closer than Brands! According to my guide Jolly G, there are some nice fast roads to be played on up Thetford way Hehee!

The problem with roundabouts are they are always covered in diesel and policemen.

When I had my TDM I was faster though some corners on track without my knee down than some people who were scrapping theirs all the way round.

You can count on one hand how many times i have got my knee down on the road. Just save it till you get on track the you have more room for error and you know there will no sh*te around.

That's exactly what we were discussing at the track on Sunday,on some corners we were following riders who were knee down and trying for their elbows and we had to back off as we were going faster and in danger of hitting them.

As one very fast old timer said " I never saw Hailwood trying to get his knee down and he managed alright"

Still wish I could do it though,I just reckon my body don't bend enough in the right places

Same here, legs too short and too old and stiff for knee down shinanegans, that and all the Harley's overtaking me puts me off.
