That’s what I thought sadly, was at a local popular bike meet last night and see both an R and factory, the R had bubbling on the tank is this also a common thing?

It’s caused by leaving high ethanol fuel in the tank for extended periods, like over winter in storage. Provided the paint isn’t damaged the bubbles will go if the tank is dried out for long enough. Basically don’t leave your bike in the garage for long periods with a full tank. Most tanks are now plastic based and the ethanol makes the plastic absorb moisture and swell. Often the tank is now under a cover so the tank itself is not visible to stop cosmetic warranty claims.  Ducati had a big problem with it also. A week in Europe ( pre the uk having ethanol ) would swell my Ducati tank noticably.

Yep agree with James….. it is definitely not a factory but a RSV1000R. It will have a Sachs rear shock which looks like an Ohlins unit from a distance but the difference is obvious once up close….. good haggling point if the owner thinks it’s a factory !!

Any plastic tank runs this risk. Seems pot luck if you get it though.
Gen1 / Gen2.

There is a Bol Dor on ebay atm if that scheme is loud enough for you. Still based on the R model and a bit cheaper.
A suspicious looking red lion factory also, but with extra crap stickers added and amber indicators. £7k is too much imo when it’s standard and perhaps hiding damage.

👍 got some other pics, has ohlins forks but a sachs rear shock and no mention of a steering damper so if correct then is just a RSVR as believe later ones has the ohlins forks at least. Owner adamant it’s a Factory tho, and with 30k miles and being off road for last 6 years I think is to high a price
