Anyone seen the new Bike test plans in MCN?
Total bollox Its clear why they are making it so hard to obtain a full bike licence Keeping someone restricted to 47bhp for 2 years after being stuck on a 125 for years proves nothing in terms of saftey? Plenty of people have made the jump from small to large bike without any issues depends on the individual TBH Your more likley to smash yourself up on a RGV 250 riding flat out at 19 years of age as you are on an RSV4 Another polite attempt of EU bullsh*t "we cant stop people but we can make it such a pain in the ass people will buy a car" |

Could you take you test in another EU state and then get it exchanged for a UK licence like allot of other "visitors" have done?

I put my oldest son through the bike test for his 21st birthday (direct access course) 2 years ago, but with these changes on the horizon I'm putting the other 3 through this year as their Christmas presents! The 2nd one (also now 21) passed 2 weeks ago and is happily driving my wife's bike around now, 3rd one takes it next week (only 20 so will have a 33BHP limit for 2 years) and the youngest will do his in 3 weeks after his 17th birthday. Costing me a packet, but they'll all be done before it gets more difficult/expensive. |

Wont your 20 year old automatically get the 33bhp limit lifted as he turns 21?

Ah, you see now you're trying to apply logic to things, and we're talking about legislation. As far as I'm aware (would love to be told I'm wrong) he has to wait 2 years from when he passes, even if he passes 1 month before he is 21. It's a right load of cobblers really.
