My bike is an 08 gen2 factory. It comes standard with 10nm front springs and 95 rear spring.

I fitted 10.5 front springs (went up 1) and 105 rear spring (went up 2) 

I weigh between 97kg and 100kg depending whether I have had a curry… 

Bike gear is about another 10kg on top of all that. If you are about my weight then don't be worried that your suspension is going to be too hard as its not and it makes the bike handle much better. I think if I had gone up 2 on the front and 3 on the back then I might have started to notice it, but it feels just right now. 

Just get standard Ohlins linear fork springs (if its Ohlins suspension), not progressive springs. Its all you need and they are't a lot of money really. I paid this guy £50 to fit the lot and I also was able to get a bit of a tutorial on how to do it whilst I watched him do it. All in I think I paid roughly about £250 including the fitting. 

If you are like me and a bit on the heavy side its well worth doing. Hope that helps

im about 7kg heavier than you mate without me gear so i think ill be addin new springs to me list of wants this year. i got an 00 gen1 with ohlins so i shall definatly be lookin in to them. cheers for that link Ian that sping calculator makes findin em easy now
ive just got my first vtwin and i think i got the right one

If you have got standard springs on your bike you will be like me and notice a huge difference because of your weight.

Bikes are nearly always sprung for Mr Average
I think anything much over 15 stone is likely to benefit from a rear spring upgrade on an rsv if your not happy with it as is. I went 105 on my Gen2 and then could run much less preload. Never had an issue with the forks spring wise so left them stock.
 
Suspension to me is a bit like tyres, confidence in what is underneath you is everything and if it feels wrong you don't enjoy the bike.

This is the first time I've owned a bike like this so in a way I'm sorta scared ofnit as I know what it's capable of and what I am and after changing the springs on me tiger and noticing a hell of a difference I want to change the ones on this more.for me
I'm guessing I'm close to 18 stone in all my gear so I wanna get it sprung right. Like ya say spoonz they look at dinky people not big lumps lol anyway back to the thread on allbrowns lovely lookin bike

I was crapping myself before I started it though. I got seriously injured at work and had loads of time off so decided to spend some time in the shed working on the bike as the house was doing my head in. As soon as I could walk I got in there. That said, even if I had been working I still would have done it. Having now done it I would recommend anyone doing it. Its not too hard to do. 

You will love your RSV. They grow on you. The more you thrash them the more they give you. They are a bit of an acquired taste but I wouldn't have anything else. I would have other bikes as well as this one though, but I would never sell this one.

Because you are heavy like me do your springs m8, its well worth it and money well spent.
