I'm looking forward to putting a 1000 miles on this weekend I reckon. May even take an overnight bag, like the old days

Hmm, I disagree - riding usually sorts my head out when I don't feel right! I still remember one of the best rides I've ever had, my mum was dying of cancer and I'd just been to see her and I went out on my own one Saturday afternoon. I'd never felt so alive as I did that ride, it was a combination of feeling all the illness in the hospital compared to riding one of my favourite local roads listening to one of my favourite songs to ride to. I really appreciated how young, alive and healthy I was.

it normally soothes my soul & clears me head. The commute today was just painful.  I'll get two full days in this weekend with a different bike each day each, me chakra 's gonna be fanny and Bob.

We ride there with a couple of our biker friends and we just have a blast, nothing better than riding in a small pack where everyone knows each other's riding, on a nice warm summer's evening. Park up, eat chips & gravy/ice-cream depending on the weather, have a few brews. Sometimes we perv on the bikes, other times we just sit and chat with each other about life and have a good laugh.

When it gets dark, we ride back and have fun on the roads that we know like the back of our hands and get home feeling thoroughly destressed and looking forward to the weekend Thumbs Up

Guess it's different if you go on your own, we sometimes have chats with other people or see some other people we know there but mainly just stick together and are in stitches most of the time. Really miss it during the winter months.

so if can ask which obviously i can as this forum is open Tongue is there anywhere specific you & your crowd from the north west meet up before heading out for a blast on wednesdays?? could just drop in one time if its a regular thing... thanx    steve

We don't always ride there together to be honest as we all finish work at different times, so we just meet there a lot of the time, then sometimes ride back together or ride back separately.

It's more of a social thing than a rideout.

You'd probably be bored stiff riding with me lol.

The carousel is over the bridge heading into town from the promenade isn't it?
Where do you park up? I thought it was pedestrianised there?
Still sounds good though, any excuse for a ride out and some socialising

You've got it. Yeah, we just run over the pedestrians.

If you look at the link and provided and look on Street View, you can see a view bikes parked up. We park in front of the chippy.

Let me know Wednesday and I'll make sure I wear an extra jumper so I don't have to go home early cos of the cold lol.

It's still pretty chilly in the evenings, went to the meet at St Annes last night and we were so cold! Usually a nice clear day means flippin freezing evenings.

Have you got some RSVR.NET stickers on your bike? It's easy to tell then, or if they're not worthy

it's a fare old ride for me to southport from north manchester & the motorways are a total bind which is why i was kinda hoping to drop onto someones back wheel who knows the best rides... i saw where everyone meets up near that long sea walk pathway thing last year when i had a day out there with the nipper.. plenty bikes with minimal chicken strips on them... so there must be some roads along the way WORTY

Yep that is a big down side specially when you've got the peaks local, it's a difficult decision.
I'm not averse to crossing the border for a meet up and a ride out though if the roads are worth it
