spoken to motoliner in maidstone

i need to take off the complete exhaust system, throttle bodies and airbox, calipers ,front fairing support and pull the wiring loom as far back as possible.

then drop it off down there and it sits in the queue .... about a 3 week wait

the front wheel looks like it has some damage around the base of a spoke...some say you can some say you cant repair so i have been looking for a front oz!!!! ouch 350-450 just for a single front wheel so when a pair jumped up here late sunday i was straight on them

480 inc delivery and they have just turned up
crappy phone pic for you ...i also have a lead on a gen2 radial front end but showas not ohlins as they are way out of my reach

Bet that may you wince.
Has the rivnut put an impression in the aluminium ?
What's the plan of attack ?
Are you going to re work the frame there ?
Ted.

it was just after mountain mile ...big left then a slight left ...guy braked in front of me for no reason I was going I guessed 90 could have been 100 ..no idea I'd gone through the big left at about 80 and accelerated hard out of it. Woo hoo !!! Fracture,in my leg and 2 torn ligaments one being the cruciate..bruised ribs and back other than that all good ha ha

in the picture the bike is facing the wrong way and is pointing back towards Ramsey .

As for the frame ...where the airduct was ripped off its pulled the aluminium around the rivnut out so its proud of the frame..can't see any cracks or any other damage should be able to dress it back down?

Was thinking off running the bike into motoliner at maidstone to have the frame checked for straightness...
Yes good idea .
Yes people can be unpredictable and lose their bottle with no reason on the mountain.
The knee is the bad injury (cruciate ) how's that healing pal ?
Yep i would dress that rivnut down firstly removing the rivnut unless the motorliner guys can see to it in good fashion.
Hope you are on the mend good and proper , and keep the pics coming .
Best regards Ted.

I used to be uncertain , but now i'm not sure anymore

well i have finally had time to strip the bike down furthe on the advice of tommy from motoliner

he wanted front subframe and controls removed ,rads off ,wiring loom pulled back as far as possible, tank and throttlebodies off.

reason...to save on labour costs if they had to remove and replace any of it whilst working on the frame as heat is involved in aliminium repairs

so here it is ready to be picked up saturday morning

i spy with my little eye a Nitron shock.
So do they use inductive coil heating so they don't mark the frame then Ratters, or good old sparkling spanner and polish out after ?
I used to be uncertain , but now i'm not sure anymore

Good excuse to clean in the nooks and crannies since you had to strip it that far.

How far are you going with the rebuild Mark. Functional or full on like new cosmetically as well ?

the plan is ...when it comes back the engines being swapped..to,1060 ,forks are being swapped for gen2 radial showa's ,and a heinz57 of bodywork.

L
I have 98-00 and 03 seat units with cowls and rear seats ,,01-03&98-00 tanks,98-00 side panels ,,98-00&01-03 nosecones with lights so just got to make my mind up ...may look for gloss black 01-03 side panels as well to suit all the above .

....also started collecting yellow bodywork ..got a brand new tank ,airducts....coil cover.....hopefully have yellow nosecone and side panels as well.

Oh 57's,edwards rep carbon airbox, tigcraft dual system...to help the 1060 breath.
Possibly another swingarm..or some frame and swingarm covers.

Oh and just bought another falco being delivered Sunday ...ooops!!!!!!!

Good to hear you're healing Mark and once your bike is back you can get stuck into the rebuild proper.

With your magpie skills it shouldn't take too long! Thumbs Up
Question everything.

What's going to take the time is deciding which part to fit, still with the crap weather approaching you'll have enough time for trial builds to see what appeals to you the most, but if you fit the big bore, throttle bodies and twin system you can't, just can't hog tie it's performance by going for the well known to be slowest colour of yellow.

Yes getting better Mark, I've had one or two sciatic relapses because I keep trying to do a bit more than I should! Trying to be stricter with myself, but if I'm sitting/lying around too long, I end up buying lots of bits for my bike online!! It's like an addiction- I kid myself that I can quit anytime but I don't think I can stop!

Great that the magpie cave is full and ready to give forth of it's goodies! I really want to go BB as well. Very badly!

I like those silicon hoses and trinkets under the fairings in general, gives a small thrill every time you undress her!!
Question everything.

old school goes in a queue ..everybike takes as long as it takes he said 2-3 weeks .... I'm in no rush.

Apparently race teams take brand new bare frames in there and they get better tolerance than from the factory

I can believe that, first time I went to Maxton's I was told they were very busy as the reg no's had just changed and they were swamped with peoples brand new superbikes having their forks & shocks stripped out and built properly. Confused

well i had a call from motoliner before christmas asking me if he could put my bike back till after the new year as he had pressure from a few people wanting their bikes asap.i wasnt bothered
as there was no way i was working on the bike over christmas

good news is i just had a call the bike is ready to be picked up...forks and yokes checked straight the frame is all good and within spec.

the swingarm has  2 snapped bolts in it ,one for the adjuster and another for the paddock stand bobbin.

He tried with heat and a nut welded on and they didnt shift so called and asked did i want them to drill them out ( labour + £££) ...but as i'm going to change out the swingarm anyway as thats badly scratched i told him not to bother .

so bike will be back at the weekend and i can start tearing into it.

so need i a swingarm ..a good swingarm if anyone has one pleaseWink

Also these will be here next week
