Hi all, my rear tyre has been plugged after a puncture. What are peoples thoughts on using it on a trackday?

Should be OK provided it's been repaired properly and there's no sidewall/edge damage.

Thanks Tifa. The repair is in the middle of the tyre.

For the price of a new tyre I have always gone for replacement soon as I can , but that's my opinion?

Using a plugged tyre on track is sketchy at best, the tyre is subjected to stresses and strains that it wont come close to seeing on the road and that plug is designed for road conditions not the track.
Personally I wouldn't risk life, limb & bike but like snowman thats just my opinion.

mmmm..... Two wheels, one compromised, not for me. I would treat the new tyre as part of the cost of the trackday.

Took the Mille round cadwell two hours after the rear being plugged........no issues. Was a new tyre that managed to get a screw stuck right in the middle on the way down to Louth.

I thought that as well but my Evo Titanium which sounds incredibly loud to me sailed through testing there. They even said it was quiet compared to most they test ![]() |
