Hi folks, I'm Matt from Doncaster and I thought I had best sign up rather than just browse as a guest forever. I've been riding for 2 1/2 years now so I'm still a newbie at that too really but recently I have been lusting after that booming Rotax V-twin, I blame my Italian friend and his Falco. I can't ride close behind it because it rattles my head in my helmetLOL

Onto my bikes, well I started on a CG125 and moved up to a SV650S K6 which I rode for a year and 13K miles but it was too cramped for my legs on long rides, so then I moved up to a Triumph Daytona 650, after 6K miles on that over the last 18 months it is much more comfortable but needs winding up before it's fun.
It has been stripped to a frame and engine over winter and re-built with everything checked and greased, bit of paint and the wheels powder coated and she's ready for the road again. Also I had the suspension overhauled and set to my weight by Gareth at Reactive Suspension...

Here she is.

You know it's serious when the wiring loom is on a wallpaper table.
GOTCHA!

While I was at it I upgraded the headlight wiring and charging system.... Dont want to turn this into a blow by blow project thread so here's a before.

If you can do electrics you are a perfect man for an Aprilia......Good work and get yourself some V-Twin action asap

I went from a Street Triple to a Tuono and its like night and day Evil Smile

And the lads at AP are spot on with advice, counselling and parts if you need them fast.

Paul

Welcome mate

I keep trying to get one of my Stripple riding mates to try a Tuono but he's resisting so far, although he has been making appreciative noises about a Hypermotard??

Well from what I have seen Hypermotards a great  bike but, usual Ducati servicing issues,  You dont want to do more than 80 miles to a tank and how to say it errr the seat isnt the most comfortable place to be.......

Coming from a ST3 they might regret that move!!

But like always its what flicks your switch, if they love it they have to give it a go and then buy a Tuono....

It's taken me years to get him to even consider a V twin as although he also rides a classic 750 T Bird and a H**da Vf4 500 (i think that's what it is ) as well he actually thinks the sun shone from Triumphs 1050 triples rear end.

It's only the fact that Triumphs designers have gone all american & chromey on the new ones that have made him consider getting something outside their range.

Should anyone fancy the Honda I think it may be for sale as he's only ridden it twice to my knowledge due to the riding position not suiting his back/neck as he's a sit up and beg sort of rider.

Thanks for the welcome folks, I will have a good look around and soak up some good infoSmile

Has anyone had any dealings with Premier Bikes in Askern near Doncaster? J&S also do Aprilia but have only recently started selling them so havent got any used ones in yet.
I'm still undecided between the Tuono and RSV so I need a nice long test of both I think...

I have bought four brand new bikes over the years from j and s. They are quite friendly, but like all bike shops they are out to make a profit. The new bikes they do sell probably cheaper than anyone else.
Their second hand stock is at the top end though. their clothing is reasonably priced, and if you buy a bike from them they discount your bike kit. Premier I tend to find them a little expensive, although I have never bought from them. They are good stockists for genuine aprilia spares if my memory servesWink

Never look down on anyone unless you are helping them up.

Finally got my Trumpet out today, one slight electrical fault which was simply a pin that had backed out of a connector for the gear position indicator.

It rides lovely, firmer than before but none of the jarring that it used to have and that's before It's been set up properly by Gareth at Reactive Suspension....

Errrm, am I still welcome If i decide to keep the trumpetLOL
