I am thinking of getting back to biking, the last bike I owned was a Ducati 620i SE.

After looking around for a big v twin I came across the Falco and after reading loads of stuff about the Falco it seems it is a comfortable, powerful tourer come sports bike, I know there are issues with the side stand and rear shock but I would like to know more about them if anyone has the time.

cheers

The Falco is rsv based so the same thinhgs to look for as an rsv really, which isn't much.

The biggest issue on the motors is the sprag clutch. They only really fail from poort batt maintenance and even then it's not a deal breaker if the cost is factored in. Listen for left sided engine noise when turning over like a bag of spanners. If it spins up nice and fast it's probably got a nice well looked after batt. They hate alarms by the way, kills the batts.

They can suffer the odd dodgy electrical connector but no other common nasty gremlins. A pretty solid bike all round

If your just returning to 2 wheels or just fancy a change the Falco is a fantastic machine.  I had a 01 for 5 years.  I toured germany, france and the UK on it with the wife and I raced it on the track.  All I can say is go for it, you won't regret it and they love travelling on the back wheel :)  It's a great riding position and really kind to ride.  I changed the pipes, fitted rear sets and a belly pan and clocked the miles up.  Happy riding.
