Seems my beloved 04 Tuono has developed a very slight oil leak; manifested as residue clinging to the underside of the belly pan. Oil level doesn't appear badly affected and it's not to the extent that it's dripping oil when parked up. Just wondering if this was something that warranted immediate further investigation, or have a closer look when I get a chance, or is it "just something Aprilias/Tuonos/RSVs do"? Any ideas? I hear thunder, I hear thunder

What service was it?. Did it have the valve check done?. If so, its common for the rubber seal under the front cylinder valve cover to get trapped between the mating faces. It has to be sat perfectly in line, otherwise it can get trapped and end up with a weep of oil from the location of the pinched seal, which drips down the front of the engine and accumulates eventually, in the belly pan area, usually soaking into the sound proofing material. Main cause is a cack handed mechanic, although it has to be said, its a complete pain getting into the front cylinder valve cover bolts, especially the one right at the front. Other thing that can cause similar symptoms is a leaky oil pressure switch, front right hand/offside of the engine near the bottom. Worth checking that too. Both are very common complaints on the RSV and Tuono. [:)]

Thanks for the ideas, Ecosse. Seems unlikely to be anything to do with the valves. The bike had only done just over 3,000 miles when I bought it so I don't think they would have checked them. I will have a look at the oil pressure switch (been away a lot lately). I hear thunder, I hear thunder
