Hi folks

Recently picked up a '99 Mille. Love it already but had a bit of an incident with the front brakes locking on whilst on the way to work. Fortunately, traffic was so bad I was only moving slowly so stayed seated Big smile

Big question is, if I need to replace the old red front calipers (tried cleaning - no luck, now going for full strip down), what are the alternatives? Saw a mention of a 4 pad Brembo but also wondered if the Falco Brembos would fit?

All answers (even the rude ones) welcome Wink

Oh, if anyone is getting rid of a suitable replacement, let me know!

Cheers

Ken

All of the rsv derivatives use the same discs etc so you shouldn't have a problem with calipers as long as you steer clear of radial stuff.

I would go for a set of Goldline versions from a 2000 onwards bike. They deffo give stronger braking and seem to go for reasonable money on ebay

Just in case anyone else gets caught out by this.

Finally found the cause of the front brakes locking (after stripping out entire brake system, using a litre of brake fluid and spending money on getting a garage to do all the same things! )

After the traditional 'fell over the sidestand' incident, I replaced the brake lever. Got a bargain pattern part for £15.

Turns out, the lever wasn't made very accurately and resulted in the cylinder staying partially compressed all the time Cry

So, beware of 'too good to be true' bargains!

Yep, raced with a guy that put some fleebay levers on to his blade - got to the end of the revett straight at snett and found that when he pulled hard enough on the lever it decided that it didn't like it so promptly snapped off Ouch his bike was a mess.
