Will the Oz wheels from a 02 Mille R fitted to Ohlins forks with axial calipers fit my Gen 1 Tuono fitted with Showa forks and axial calipers without any mods?

Yes. Only axial to radial or vice versa need modding

Hopefully final questions...do the early (02) Oz wheels have the lettering on the rim flanges?
Other than that, how's the best way to identify them?

By 02 I'm pretty sure yes. The first rsvr’s in 2000 had stickers saying oz on the wheels and they were painted blue, not anodised

Thx Spoonz. The seller of the wheels Im looking at says the rims have no lettering on them. Photos show the Oz logo on the recessed flat area in the spokes, but I see nothing else. Ive no reason to disbelieve him but Id like to be sure before parting with my hard earned. Is there any other way of confirming theyre the real deal?
Edit: Seller says axial brake Oz wheels were cast and only radial brake wherks were forged. Does this any bells with anyone?

Nothing wrong with them

The stamped lettering in the rim only came out on 2003 radial  braked R and Colin edwards editions then all gen2 factory’s

All rsv oz wheels are forged otherwise there would be no benefit over the stock brembo wheels other than the colour.

Thanks.
It seems these are genuine Oz, just cast, not forged.
Just seen your last post Spoonz, I thought all forged Oz wheels
had 'forged' printed on them.

To my knowledge oz only made forged wheels for bikes. The forged lettering just coincided with the updated anodised wheels. I have the original brochure here from my own rsvr so will double check and take a pic of the text if it’s there.

They (Including the markings) look the same as the wheels on my 01 RSVR, forged OZ for sure.

I think there is a lot of confusion out there due to Aprilia supplying cast wheels that looked like OZ on later bikes.

The only true oz wheels as in made by OZ in Italy are the early versions. The later versions were made by Enkei in Japan and branded OZ under a license agreement.

Thx Ray, Spoonz.
I read that  a russian aerospace firm made some for Aprilia after their
contract with Oz expired in 07/08. Maglatech?

So, did Enkel sub-contract for OZ (Quite normal in modern manufacturing) or did they sell direct themselves?

OZ spa pulled out of motorcycle wheel production for a period. Enkei were a manufacturing partner of OZ and eventually the owner of OZ when they got into financial difficulties.
A lot of Ducati wheels branded as Marchesini are made under license by Enkei also. With these and brands like Ohlins, only the race depts and R&D are the original core business and manufacturing goes elsewhere.

Interesting info Spoonz.

Not many brands actually make their own products any more which isn't a problem so long as they source from quality suppliers and manage the quality.

It's when the brand name gets sold to a pillager and outsources to the cheapest manufacturer out their that the problems arise. So many great clothing brands (Especially outdoor wear) have been destroyed in this way that you never know what's worth buying any more.
