Hi All,

I've just purchased a 2014 v4 aprc with 14,500 miles and good service history, with a full service inc. valve check done at AP at 11000k in '22.

I've no experience of these models before and have a couple of questions.

Both the headlights have stopped working, but the central running lights are OK.

Is this likely to be fuse related? I've found the relevant fuse in the handbook but have not checked it yet. If it's not the fuse, is it a big job to replace the bulbs and can anyone recommend a brand/type to use?

Next, I think the the abs and traction control may have been disabled. Again, I've been looking through the handbook but nothing's jumped out yet as to how I enable/set these.

Finally, is it normal for the engine to sound 'tappity'?

Thanks, in advance :-)

PS If anyone has an original set of mirrors they don't need, I'll buy them as the bike came with bar end mirrors and they're not my thing!

Hi

It could be the fuse especially as the running lights run on a separate fuse to the main lights. If the bike has done track days i( abs and traction control if disabled suggests it may have ) then some riders pull the lights fuse for the duration.

Unless you go led on the bulbs, any decent quality halogen H11 will do the job. Re the noise, the engines are not the quietest especially when hot, so unless the noise seems excessive I wouldn’t be unduly worried.

Valves were checked and adjusted at 11000k by AP work shop.

BTW, it's quieter now after I've changed the oil

Thx.

Just to be aware the V4s do consume oil so would recommend you check periodically, mine uses approx. 150-200ml per 1,000 miles. Some use a lot more than this.

Thx, I'll keep an eye on that.
