I don’t know what prices are like but were I to do it again I would try and get a used higher quality item instead as I think most of the lower end brands price wise might be the same

I've only got a single garage too, with 5 bikes in it, some racking and a large work bench and a US style fridge!. I couldnt fit a bike lift in it even if I wanted one but the Sky Lift allows me to raise a bike and work on it. Only draw back is that 2 of the bikes cannot use the SL, Guzzi Le Mans and a Bonneville SE.

A couple of thoughts Adam.

My brother built a new purpose built garage/workshop a couple of years ago when he bought a new house. As he had the advantage of pre-planning, he sunk a lift into the floor so that when down it was completely flush with the floor allowing the garage to be used unhindered. I guess you would need to dig out a section of concrete to do this but just a thought as it has proved really convenient.

The second thing is re cabinets. What about finding someone who is getting a new kitchen, Generally you will get a whole load of cabinets etc free in return for collecting them.

The lift is the biggest thing I'm researching so that's a really good recommendation Warren. I'd been advised as Colin mentioned about the cheaper options and to get a scissor style for stability. 

I don't want to go skylift for the reason you say Steve I work on all sorts so not practical. 

Kitchen units are on my radar ray thought exactly the same but im not digging the floor however I can really see the benefits. The way I'm planning on laying it out I'll have a L shape bay and access beyond if so it will be a permanent feature and shouldn't be in the way 

For what it's worth I favour a skylift over a conventional table lift in a single lock up garage.

As you work on many bikes I believe a set of adapters are available to enable use on any make of bike for a reasonable price although I haven't bothered as I only need  Aprilia sets.

Regarding SGS modular units I only have one of their smaller multi drawer roll cabs alongside a big Costco sourced stacking roll cab unit but I can say they seem to be of good quality and I'd be happy to recommend them.

Another thought is the modular units sold by Costco if you're a member. If you're not but have a local store I strongly advise you join as the membership fee will soon be overtaken by the savings from just buying fuel from them without even actually shopping in store.

I checked out Costco and there's none at all in Norfolk unfortunately. 

New doors are being fitted next week and the refurbishment begins when I return from almeria on the gixer. Once it's boarded out and empty I'll know what space I have and start fitting it out. Found a couple of good SGS BENCHES and had good recommendations on them so I think that's the route with some wall mounted cabinets for storage and stuff .  I'll update this as I make progress
