I've been a long time member but left to scratch an IL4 itch, ending up with a 2015 Fireblade SP.
Looking to go back to a Vtwin and fancy a gen 1. Hunting I came across this.

Does anyone know anything about it, or how genuine it looks. No service history is a worry, along with the high mileage, but at the right price is it worth a punt and what, realistically, would be a good price?

Hard to tell from the pics but I’m not sure that is the original motor as it has a silver clutch cover. I thought they had the bronze magnesium colour as on late gen1’s. Which might mean it has the older gear ratio’s etc.  just an fyi to check as I can’t be sure as if I’m right that really would hurt its resale value compared to an original spec.

Looks like a genuine bike to me

Expect it to hit over £6 maybe £7k even without history

Personally I’d be looking for a late 03 R with good history

I know someone that has some for sale they are mint  and he strips and deep cleans as he rebuilds and would be the price I mentioned  above

As for the edwards and Spoonz comment

Pretty sure they still had the silver clutch cover as shown by this for sale Ad  I found from AF1 years back

Cheers guys,
You two are both still very active on this site then, I knew I could count on some knowledge in here.

It's been years since I've logged in but still
Pay my premium membership every year LOL

You're probably right about hanging out for a good history R. I really did get stung on the gen 2 I had and ended up spending an absolute fortune putting it back rite.

The person you know, do they go by the name of Michelle on FB? Someone's just commented on an old post of mine saying they have a few of them.

Yes that’s him , his name is Rich uses his wife’s account

He has a cracking collection of bikes

I recently put someone else in touch with them as they wanted to get back into aprilia ownership after selling his edwards rep years back , this guy is very fussy and was amazed at the bikes he had all were mint to perfect condition.

Personally I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from him if I was in the market

He also had an edwards rep

He bought it from Griff at APWorkshops so would have had been gone through very thoroughly with a full service and valve check
