Do any of you out there have a yamaha r1 2008 model ,my son has saaid bike and was running fine he parked it up and had fired it up a few times but last week he tried it and it wont fire up my question is whilst cranking should the engine light on the dash flash ,the pump primes tried all keys had an alarm on it but was disconnected before he got it

my 2003 R1 did this and it required a new loom. i also had a datatool alarm on it that had been "disabled" by previous owner and after the guy who changed the loom got it off he said that a few cables had just gotten old and the splice for the alarm caused a problem. with tihs issue and my Gen 2's ECU clapping out from an alarm i try to avoid if pos.

Looking on R1 forums either a duff battery or starter. 
Test the battery for charge and check the voltage drip when you try and crank it over

We read the codes and cleared them and it fired up i suspect the battery being flat caused it
