Thanks .Thought it was a show pony when I first saw it, then test rode it and it didn’t disappoint- 1 owner, low miles (genuine according to the docs too) and fsh. Question - do you think I should change it to PS5 or do you think Haga would have something to say about it ;-)

Agreed - should only be on gen1…I didn’t do it, honest.
Pillion seat cover could do with lacquering too.

Personal choice regarding decals of course,I tend towards the less is more view but yours do actually kind of blend in the general Aprilia 'shell suit' kind of look and don't look out of place unless you know what a Gen1 Haga rep should look like.

My vote would be lose all the add ons and go just plain standard.
Of note, I seem to recall the rear seat cowl should be in the satin finish along with the side panels is that correct? It was a gloss/satin two tone combo I think ?
Nice clean models look best. What’s going on with the Akra stickers on the end cans too?

Pretty sure 2004 bikes had seat covers in Aprilia black which is the same colour as the tank, seat fairing etc. You can confirm it via the parts list online, it’s the only black available for that year. As per the pic below from the Aprilia catalogue

Looks gloss to me. I owned a red one from new in 04 but considered black at the dealer but I don’t recall the seat pod being Matt.

Been looking into it and the first use of Diablo black ( satin) on seat cowls is on the 05/6 Tuono. So I wonder if bikes with satin cowls have had a tuono version retro fitted due to loss/damage/preference.
Below is a pic of a bike with the aprilia black version which looks gloss. Above that is the Diablo black ( Tuono version )

That's 100% satin black to my eyes and a quick Google shows me that it was a gloss and satin model in 2004.

100% it is gloss and satin in 04 for the side panels. It’s only the seat cover I have my doubts about. I can only say based my recollection and Aprilia not listing a satin seat cower for 04.
I have the original brochure somewhere which has much more info and pics. Will see if I can find it.

I would love to see the brochure and I can't see mine and all the other 04s having changed the seat pod to a later coloured one.

If your 04 cowl is satin and has a Factory sticker on it (one side will only rings a bell too ?) then it’s exactly what I’ve seen several times.
It matches the side panels and as I took it was to mirror and have a theme on the bike.
It may of had a run of gloss finished ones as Colin points out perhaps and then reserved the satin for Tuono’s or being Aprilia, put what was available at the time. I can’t imagine someone buying a genuine factory sticker for the seat cowl. Also isn’t the orange/red flash in front of the intergrated red reflector on the factory one also? That same sticker should be (minus factory) on the Mille
Edit the factory sticker I mentioned may just say rsv 1000 and be on the right hand side of the seat cowl thinking of it

Honda sticker - never! I have had the comment that PS2 is a bit out of date and that they should be removed, from she who must be obeyed and my grandson. I don’t think either of them are into pink flowers though ;-) Nice to see that it sparked a lively debate too.

I messaged AF1 re seat cowls. They said they are satin oem but not Diablo black as per the Tuono, just uncoated Aprilia black. it was common to clear coat the seat cowl or fit the gloss version from the 05 model year. Sometimes by dealers if it clinched a deal.
I couldn’t find my gen2 brochure but did find the 98/99 Rsv and 2000 Rsv/rsvr/sp which were interesting to read again.

…put the old one back on for now - even managed to get it straight too! Going to get a cheap black spine-type one. I quite like the unadorned cans & think I’ll leave them that way for now as I have a habit of scraping them on the shed door.

But it looks miles better now. Like it.
Edit Btw have you lost the bung on the collector pin that pushes against the belly pan? They used to list them on Fowlers parts but now it doesn’t. I purchased a few after discovering the part used on another model that I can’t recall. I expect the toolkit that comes with most bikes could probably be best replaced by ones own choice of tools.
These days they probably don't expect a rider to even know what the tools are supposed to do. To be honest the practical expertise of most of the new generation I've met leaves a lot to be desired.
I think the future is going to be interesting when the brown stuff finally hits the fan and the lights start going out and the snowflakes can't rely on their Iphones to call up someone to fix things and have to do it themselves.

That was said as a parent of three Uni graduates, all with Bsc's in various disciplines and sundry other letters after their names.
As I once said to an Government cabinet advising Professor in answer to a question whilst I was attempting (failing) a job interview, the question being" How did I view the merits or otherwise of a uni graduate compared to someone who worked themselves up from the shop floor"
My considered answer bearing in mind I'd already decided I wouldn't take the job even if it was still offered was that in my opinion the grad although undoubtedly incredibly highly qualified normally wouldn't have the common sense to come in out of the rain.
After the sharp intakes of breath from the interviewing panel I seem to have struck a chord with the Professor as he slowly started chuckling then took me on extended tour of the semi classified facility to meet some of his graduates.
They even showed me the only machine of it's type outside it's twin in a Chinese PLA research lab and the two elite Chinese grads? operating it.
I wasn't offered the job in the end though and my kids are now rapidly learning the practical skills needed to go with their academic achievements that I failed to instill in them when they were younger and only interested in other things.

Similar opinion of graduates here. The only glimmer of hope is a grandson - who at the age of 3 could use an android phone and an iPad - now likes mechanics and metalwork which comes in handy as he has small hands and can see better than me when we’re ’messing about in the shed’

Oh dear, at least there wasn't too much damage. I've never done that but it's always something I think about!
Anyway, I would still recommend a US spec sidestand to all RSV/Tuono owners whether Gen1 or Gen2

All I’ll have to do is cut the bracket off and swap the old connector over.

You won't need the old connector but will need a spade for the trigger feed and then earth the other side of the trigger to the housing somehow

Thanks. Am going to use the old solenoid connector wiring, cut it off and crimp on 2 spades….1 for the feed, the other I’ll leave enough of the bracket to connect the crimped connector to. I have a nasty feeling the bikes start system is switched earth though? If it is I’ll just fix the solenoid on with insulating top hats as well.
But: got to rely on the mail to turn up….Thursday, I reckon.
