So I was going through my garage at the weekend as it's gotten into a sithole (more on that in another thread!). I found a box of old photos and there was one of my first car, which was interesting to say the least, I thought I'd start a thread on what your early cars and bikes where.First car

Mk3 escort two door estate in white, I fitted rs alloys with an rs1600 front spoiler, lowered it and fitted an Ashley full system with Webber carb and k&n, I got a 5 speed box out of an xr3 fitted and drove the wheels off of it, pretty much lived in it, I remember getting through 7 sets of brake pads in 3 years.

Just to lower the tone then, I give you...........................................an Austin A35 Van (converted with rear seat and side windows)
First bike was an old 125cc Bantam D1 which was on it's last legs when I bought it for 30 s (that's £1.50 for you kiddies) back when I just turned 13 years old.

Hahaha, the things we used to be able to do to our cars! My lad is 19 and if he so much as put a stripe down the side of his car it would invalidate his insurance!

When I had a triumph 2500S my mate had a gold Capri 3.0L Ghia, it used to spin like a top around a wet roundabout, he swapped it for a 3.0L S, same

When I was learning, everyone in my group were using the training centre CG125's and they were dead slow 4 strokes, my little 2 stroke 100 left them for dead! Come test day though I had to use one cuz every time I braked on the Yam the indicator stopped working! What a crap bike that Honda was though, the examiner came past me waving to go faster but the damn thing wouldn't!

Even though the mbx was a four stroke it was pretty fast for a little 125, kept up with my mates on an rd125lc and an rg125 Walter wolf no problem, we must of done thousands of miles on them little things terrorising our local roads I my day the examiner was on foot and stood on a corner and watched you pass bye, could of fallen off round the corner and he wouldn’t of known oh happy days !

On bikes my first was an mtx125 then a kdx125, I bought my first big bike in 91 while I still had the kdx which was my gpz1000rx that I still own, I didn’t pass my part two until 94 though and I didn’t ride the rx in all that time officer 😁.

I remember those days, you just drove a course around town and never knew when the b*gger would observe or jump out in front of you for the emergency stop.
I failed the bike test on that first time round,he also said I went through a red traffic light ! I know I didn't because there were only the one set of lights in town and both times I approached the junction the lights were amber and I stopped both times. Barsteward Mind you he didn't like me or the stripped down to a skeleton frame, modded Lambretta I was riding,I think the expansion box was a little loud for him first thing in the morning.
Sailed through the repeat test though and my car test with him shortly afterwards.
Things were so much simpler back then
