I require a crank locking tool so that i can replace the sprag clutch.
I know its an m8 x 100 with 1.25 thread and greater than 8.8 strength, but what does the end that locks into the crank, and does it have to be fully threaded?

Thanks
D

Same sizes as what you've stated. Then file the end that goes into the crankshaft down to 5mm diameter for about 5mm along the length of the bolt. This is what I use when doing valve shims. Turn the crank with an allen fitting on the stator side and feel for the locating recess in the crank and screw the tool into it.

Dimensions for length on that previous thread and threaded all the way and as above the end should look like this

As Mark says, that locking tool will not hold the crank with that amount of torque applied. I'm sure I read in AF1 forum someone asking for advice on removing this bolt after it had been bent. The locking tool is just for keeping the engine at tdc while valve shims are replaced etc.

People say I don't know Jack Sh1t; but I do, he lives next door.

That's what I was after, thanks there.
In my internet travels I also found that the KTM tool also fits and is available. 0113080802 is the KTM part number.

That's cheap enough. I use KTM valve shims at a fiver each compared to 13 quid plus for Aprilia ones.
