Look at the mess of my swingarm! Sprocket bearing collapsed on the sighting laps at snetterton on Monday evening which obviously allowed the carrier to move which in turn tore the nuts through the swingarm. I was very lucky I was going at sighting pace and also that it was at a cheap evening session at my local circuit and not brands next week.

All sorted now, parts came to 55quid and a couple of hours work. Unfortunately the strap broke in the recovery van and I had some more damage to repair but hey ho that's why I bought a tracker. Check those bearings gents!

Hope you are well mate?

Are you putting a new arm in it, I wouldn’t be happy riding it with all that material missing.

Yep new arm and carrier were in before brands dirt cheap. The old ones going to be the main section for my scrapheap challenge kit hangerSmile

Just age and wear and tear I reckon it doesn't exactly get an easy life.

All was good at brands as you can see

The photos are free so I suppose you can't blame them! It's such a good deal, cost me 93 quid to insure the XJR and the members only track day was £119 instead of £189 saving £70 almost paying for the insurance. I couldn't make any of the others but they do 5 a year.

You will be checking bearings like mad from now on Ad 😁

Top pic. Yes Bennett’s do some good value track days but you almost need to book it before they advertise! Impossible to get a space.
Dude I’ve found a race series to run alongside the zx10 in Bemsee that May allow me to dust off the Gen2 as it would arguably be one of the most competitive bikes there. All V twins. Gen1’s , Gen2’s , TL’s, Firestorms, SP’s, 748/749/996/998/999’s. If you fancy a twin series or anything on Bemsee drop me a message. Last round at Donny coming up, just gone live for entries.

Yep I'll be a lot more aware checking the bike pre trackday rather than the sling it in the van approach that I've gone for in the pastEmbarrassed

Ohhh that sounds interesting I'll drop you a message on WhatsApp.

I know the xjr is no track machine but keep an eye/ear on the wheel bearing on the sprocket side, mine gets through one every year.

That surely can't be right, there must be an underlying issue somewhere?

I think it depends on what the spindle diameter is as it was changed at some point. I am also running the 36y inlet rubbers which give an extra 10-15 horses. The bike is also daily commuted (70 miles of rush hour motorway per day) and ridden all year round.

Very lucky indeed especially as snetterton is such a quick circuit. Something I've learnt from and I'll be much more aware in the future.
