had the tuono about 4 months now it was basically sound when i got it just needed tweaking a bit here and there. one of the mods i have done is uprated the battery for a jmt lithium which is a definite improvement over the old battery. it always starts first time just feels like its slightly struggling. i was thinking of changing the battery leads for the ap performance ones. so the question is it a simple job to change them over. because looking at it i cant seem to trace ware the leads go.

Yes, it's really easy. I did the ones on my Mille in about 30 minutes.

Yep, fairly straightforward to fit, instructions provided. Probably the most worthwhile mod you can do on a Gen2 RSV/Tuono, and it protects your sprag clutch too.

The hardest part about it is the fiddly bolt for the engine earth on the left side to battery negative cable.

That's strange as Griff did a video a few months ago with John Walker (He who makes them) where it was discussed that he had modified the kits to remove the need for soldering by incorporating connectors for the bottom of the 30A fuse holders.

Hi Bob1
I have done this exact same mod with the whole kit from ap performance on my gen 1.
It’s fairly straight foward, the things to watch are the terminal on the starter motor sits out in the open, so it gets rusty and covered in road crap, best to wd40 it a couple times a day or so before you undo it.
Also I had slight problem actually fitting the wires inside the right hand frame rail, between the frame and motor. It’s a bit tight there, but it’s just a bit fiddly. Also don’t get caught out with the tip over switch like me. Classic mistake ! Loads of threads on here about that !
Good luck, take you’re time, you should be fine.
It is probably the first mod you should do on a pre 2006 bike. After that, they upgraded the wiring a little bit, but this mod is well worth the effort, it totally transforms the bike in my opinion, and obviously protects the dreaded spray clutch.

I fitted them to my Gen 1. Easy enough to do so long as you know which end of a screwdriver to hold. Just take your time and be methodical. I used the old lead to the starter motor as a guide. I used it to pull the new cable through. The difference they make is very noticeable. I have them fitted to my V4T too as a preventative.

Hey mate, I absolutely love it. It contains RSV DNA but is a completely different engine to the V Twin. I run two bike at the moment, the V4T and a ZZR1400. I plan to sell them both over the next 6 months as Im looking for something " in the middle". The Tuono is being advertised as we speak. Its a truly cracking bike and does most things amazingly. But my bike needs are changing and I need something which is all day comfortable with a good tank range. (but still a bit mental)WinkWinkWink
