Got the rear BST carbon wheel in yesterday, New Pirelli Diablo
Supercorsas with Brake Tech disc, Racetorx chain adjusters (modded swing arm for RSV4 adjusters few years back) and Giamoto
titanium axle nut (not done up, waiting for 44 tooth Talon sprocket).
Caliper bolts, pinch bolts, bleed nipple etc are Ti. Hel brake lines I
will change to Venhill for the dry link couplings. Also chucked on an
RSV4 rear master that I gave a bit of a polish. Pretty pleased with myself lol

Stunning d, be careful which disc bolts you use as it can mess with the speedo sensor.

Hi Rik, looking sweet my friend, bet you're itching to get the front in as well now to see the overall effect, was thinking the same thing about the disc bolts and picking up the signal from the speed sensor. May I ask what method you chose to remove the material from the swing arm/bobbin mounting area to enable the fitting of the rsv4 adjusters as have been toying with this as well. Would be great to see the bike in the flesh if Phil's b.b.q goes ahead and we are both able to make it

Thanks Warren, Mark, Adam and aaressveeguy well happy with it.
The disc bolts are standard, but like new, the speedo sensor being the reason.
aaressvee, yes every panel is carbon, including a very lucky find of a cf tank last year.
I don't have any photos of it in it's most recent incarnation, but I'll get some up when I can roll it out into the sun next.
Mark, I'll pm you.

Ricks are not racetorx items and to get year ones to fit meant using a power file to remove a small amount of material 1.5-2mm I think ..to allow them to fit

Oops, I've been rumbled ha ha
Patience lads, I don't want to post old pics of the bike that aren't relevant anymore and it's too close in the bike container to take full pics. When the front's on and she's off the Abba stand, I'll get some outside. When Photobucket pulled the free hosting, my build thread lost all it's
pics. Then one of the dogs sat on the keyboard and managed to delete a
whole folder of those pics from my pc.
The next big thing, as soon as the current jobs are done is putting that gen 2 1060 motor I've got in. Been umming and ahhing for too long, as I'm getting quite disabled, so I may well be chucking it at someone I know. It really pains me to do so, I've always done all my own stuff on all the bikes and cars I've ever had. But I'm going to have to swallow my pride and admit to myself with grim acceptance that I am a raspberry living in denial and open my wallet a bit wider. Bah. All I need is the motor physically putting in though. I'll do the rest at least.
Mark (Redders), I had some Lightech adjusters before (bought some generic cheap ones for setting up and modding), but I have changed those ones to these black Racetorx ones from Dale James. I can tell you the quality is way above the Lightech.

James cancelled the order, because the tolerances of the gen 1 arms are all over the place, so for gen 1's there is no one size fits all solution. I thought about offering an exchange service on modded arms, but decided that if something were to go wrong with one ever, then I'd be taken to the cleaners.

Pure indulgence I know, but I didn't want to spoil the bike for a ha'penneth worth of tar....
Black Brembo M4's
Black Brembo P4 34 Supersport rear caliper
Brembo RCS 19 brake and clutch masters, with a short lever for the brake. Been told a RCS16 is better for feel? Might swap it, not sure it's going to matter. More pressing is that I will probably have to go back from the Oberon to the stock slave cylinder to use it?
Brembo smoked reservoirs
Still waiting for front Brake Tech discs in the post and something else a little bit special

The coloured Ti bolts will be replaced with polished Ti (don't know what I was thinking...)

Because I lost all the pics on my original build thread -when Photobucket pulled the plug, I might post the odd random pic of other bits from the build on here and maybe add some info of whats gone into it
On another note, does anyone make Ti rear spindle/axles?
Hopefully some pics of a complete bike soon

Ahh,the old Chippy,a flying classic
Never been up in one though, done several flights in assorted Cessna's and Pipers but tbh have never really been that impressed by powered flight, it always struck me as being extremely noisy, cramped and uncomfortable.
Flying unpowered and almost silently just using the air currents is so satisfying by contrast, almost like riding a bike but plus, plus, plus.
It's something I'd recommend to all riders although I except no responsibility for the probable future addiction and poverty likely to be the result

Ok,sorry in advance for the thread jack but I just came across this online and I thought most of you would like it.
Totally non bike but an interesting demonstration of how to get a woman totally aroused with all her clothes on
The CFI at my original club used to do something similar whenever a girl showed up,I don't think he approved of having women on his field and wanted to frighten them off.
One day a girl showed up and dared him to impress her and she couldn't walk properly when they landed, looked liked she'd cum for Britain in the air

Is that a TVR behind the Landy?
You really have too many toys
Aerobatics are all very well if you're hands on but I never liked being thrown around passive like that.
I did once have a dual flight in wave at Denbigh after we should have been on the ground due to lack of light,we were way up high and still in partial light when my instructor said we needed to get down quick or we'd be landing by car headlights.
We did 13 consecutive loops to lose height using the full moon as a datum in a dark sky, fortunately the site owner was up next to us in another two seater so he couldn't bitch about breaking aviation law without dropping himself in the crap as well.
It was damn near pitch black when we made a (very) rough and bumpy landing, fortunately flown by the instructor as it was way outside my skill level.
The low level beatups at near VNE are awesome though, flown in a slippery 'glass ship at near max airspeed flying downwind makes for really impressive speed over the ground.
I reckon that blonde was well warmed up and ready to party when she disembarked

Thanks for the info Warren
With the Ohlins you have many more places to get them serviced etc, the Bitubo more difficult, but I did look around. Bitubo said if I ever had a problem, they could do anything to it if needed. I'm happy with my choice. Racetorx are going to make some dog bones for the gen 1's. They already do gen 2's, but that's probably a month or two away from now. He' going to do the earlier ones as well as 01-03. Bit of poor timing, because I was going to install new db bearings, but really like the RT db's.

In for a penny, in for a pound and I'm in too deep now to neglect the final pieces
It's
been like a collection that I've gleaned over about 10 years. A rare
part here, another there. I saved for most of it by giving up drinking
(for about 16 years, though I do partake a bit now).
My mission
was to just build my dream Ape. I started modding when Mum was getting
very poorly, and she was for years. Working on the bike gave me some
respite from all the worry if that makes sense. So did searching for
parts online all over. Became a hobby in itself. With the growing
disability from the old bike injuries, when I can't ride, knowing I have
it makes big difference and tinkering really helps. Or just go and have
coffee with it.

That's all well and good but to keep posting mouth watering exotica like that and taking it away should surely count as some sort of cruelty to others
I keep being tempted while spending too much time online as it is,I've just ordered some bluetooth /noise cancelling earbuds I don't really need
They just looked so tempting I thought I'd try some truly wireless units.
Paypal is too tempting
But the bikes ( that I seldom use) surely need new shocks?
Mustn't go there...Be strong...
Actually
I see it now
This is retribution for me getting you interested in the world of soaring and the associated poverty

The only 2 things holding the progress now, is waiting for the Racetorx dog bones to be made and that Smaltmoto quick release fuel line. I'm at the other side of the spectrum Ian. My shock is very under damped even with the adjusters almost fully shut. I found a great cheap solution: reduce damping on the forks. So although the bike has some bounce, at least it's the same front and back now. Actually improved it a fair bit.

Originally modded the arm for RSV4. I used some generic adjusters for setting up to accept Lightech. Then have now swapped those out for Racetorx. Modding the arm is fiddly and you have to be careful. Probably the hardest bit is removing the front stops for the original adjusters (on the arm) and making sure an equal amount of material is removed from the upper and lower faces. Get it wrong and the spindle will be out of line and the arm potentially knackered. I'm forgetting everything involved, it was a long time ago that I did it now. Getting old lol.
