I noticed the other day that my throttle was feeling a little "notchy", like the cables needed oiling. Last night I noticed a slight squeek noise as I opened the throttle (engine off) just at the start of the travel. I traced the noise to the sensor unit where the throttle cables feed into . It sounds like a dry shaft bearing.

Has anyone else experienced this and, before I take it off to inspect could it be a squirt of WD40/GT85 should do the trick?

For a giggle I priced up a new unit. Bloody hell. I wont be getting one of those unless I absolutely have to.

Thoughts please.

There is a removalable cover on the back of the demand sensor housing which gives access to the cable cam and spindle. If it is just dry and sticking a squirt of lube might do the trick. If it’s one or both of the potentiometers that is stiff there is probably not a lot u can do as they are sealed.

Hey Colin, I dont suppose you know the trick to releasing the cable connectors. They look like they were designed by an engineer!

If you mean throttle cables, leave them connected. Once you remove the demand sensor body from its mounting, the throttle cables will come away with it.  The access cover can be removed with the cables still in situ

The connectors have a locking mechanism on them. Gray plastic tabs to release from memory. Did a lube help ?

Pull the lock tab up (away from the demand sensor towards the cable) to unlock
