Anyone got any idea's before I get stuck into a fault finding exercise. I have a 2000 falco and its been absolutely brill, had it from new and its never let me down. Its on its second battery and done 52000 miles. I garaged it for this winter and last weekend went to fire it up. The bike has been on trickle charge so the battery should be ok, I turned on the ignition and everything done its business fuel pump primed etc. pressed the starter and all I got was a click from the selonoid alomg with a bit of a buzzing sound from it.
There was no sign at all of the starter motor turning over, I connected a set of jump leads across as well just in case and got just the same.
Has anyone been here before and what problem did you find.

Thanks in anticipation .... fudgie

check out the threads on the mille sections. sounds like the starter solenoid. one of the yamaha solenoids is a direct replacement but better. not sure which one but spoonz will know. it's a common fault on these engines. keep smiling

Hi Fudgie,

Had something like this on my last Falco. The generator rotor has three cap head bolts in is and mine had come lose, which screwed up the windings in there.

Hope it not this, but there is an easy way to find out, Try to bar over the engine if it locks up or a grinding noise come from the casing on the other side from the clutch then Bingo.

Hope it not this as the part and labor runs in to £100's of pounds.

Just something Else to keep in mind. Smile
