Hi everyone ! I have a 2006 RSVR Factory ( only just bought it ) & the rear brake is useless , what would be the best mod for this model to rectify this problem ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers Mark |

Relocate the M/C to some rearsets is the best way Mark. The original M/C and it's location is not the best. Bleeding will fix it for a while but it rarely lasts for long before it goes again,

Most folk will tell you to get a set of the ones that Aprilia Performance sell, I've got them fitted and they're fantastic. Plenty of adjustment and a working rear brake what's not to like? Plus I managed to convince the missus to let me buy em by stating "You don't want me riding around on a bike with dodgy brakes now do you? This'll fix them once and for all" -------------

Bleed it regularly. You want to take the calliper off the swing arm and turn it upside down so the bleed nipple is the highest point and stick something between the pads like a screwdriver or spanner. Also you can buy softer pads. Thats all I do and the brake works well enough. I don't use my back brake any road as a matter of course. Its bad practice for me and the way I ride but if you use the back brake this should make it good enough for you.
After you have done that, every time you first ride off as well, try holding your back brake on a little to get the glaze off and get the pads gripping a bit more too. After that it should be fine.

Thanks for all the replies guys ..... I'll look into getting those rearsets but in the meantime I'll bleed it as needed & see if that helps & hopefully it won't be too long until some shiny new rearsets are on my bike !!! Cheers Mark |

Correct method is bleed with nipple at 10 o'clock, and again at 2 o'clock, you may be surprised at the air burp at 2. Also bleed the master, and use a better fluid. The other thing to preserve the pedal feel will sound just plain ridiculous, but after bleeding, pump the pedal and then hang something on the pedal. I actually use a battery from my old mini when I want to refresh it, daft eh? But it works.
