hi again

just changed my oil to find that i have a small leak from the oil filter cover.

I've got a new seal for it but the oil has only done 30miles.

Whats the best way to reduce the amount of oil that will come out of the bike if i take the cover off?

I'm thinking of draining the oil tank, leave the magnetic plug in, leaning the bike over and then remove the cover. I'm going to want to put all the oil back in.

Will this work?

I got a round plastic drain bowl from Halfords for about £7. Just catch every bit of oil that comes out of the bike and put it back in Smile

I would drain the tank first and then swap out the filter cap seal. You will get oil on yourself but so what. You won't loose any, just what ends up on your hands or down the bike which you end up wiping off.

I have just done exactly the same and drained and kept or the old oil.

I don't know if leaning the bike over to the right a little might help with less oil coming out of the filter housing but don't think it would harm. Maybe lean the bike on a wall with a bit of rag on the end of the handlebar to stop any scratches.

So far from my knowledge.. As long as the engine is shutdown.. There's no oil will flows out from the engine.. Only the oil in the oilfilter.. Correct me.if im wrong

Well I just drained the oil tank anyway. Then took off the cover. So don't know what would have happened if I just took the cover off without draining the tank. Anyway no big deal easy job.

If you'd have just removed the cover, especially after leaving the bike overnight, very little comes out.

Tilt the bike over on the right hand side with a help of a mate.
