The forum keeps telling me off for spamming Cry Tells me I'm writing too many replies in too short a space of time. Is there any way to change this limit (even if just against my user account) as I quite frequently hammer a load of replies in one go as I'll go on at lunchtime or something.

It wouldn't be so bad if it kept the message I'd written, but when I click the back button it's gone Cry

Thank you Smile And no worries if you can't change anything, I'll just try to pace myself lol.

There is a time restriction between posts aimed at stopping bots from posting huge numbers of spam quickly which takes an age to clear. All you need do is wait for 10 seconds or so and it will let you post again, no need to log out or anything.

The time delay can be altered but I think it is 20 seconds currently between posts but I will check.

Do a Copy then Paste Bird, of your post. Refreshing the page sometimes helps when that message pops up too.

Its an A.R.F. - Age Related Filter

Us old feckers can't type that fast so its designed to limit youthful input to the site allowing us equal postageness.

It's called Flood control and it's set to 30 seconds.
But has the added benefit of slowing the yung uns down a bit so we can keep up.

Could be worse, you could be sticky as well LOL

Anywaaaaay, I though it was probably just me getting the spamming warnings,it's only recently started happening and it's certainly longer intervals than 30 secs.

Obviously now I've progressed to typing with two fingers as opposed to one it's confusing the system

there are 2 parts to the flood control

The time between posts (20 sec) and the number of posts in a given time frame. (think it's 10 in 20 minutes but not sure)

If you post lots of replies in a short time you might come up against the latter. If it's a problem I might change the setting away from it's default.

I would say the 10 in 20mins would be where most can be struggling!! We are all so opinionated/informative/boring (delete as appropriate!)

Yeah I think it's the number of posts I'm failing on, as I tend to come on and answer everything in one go. I thought if it could be set against individual users, I could have mine tweaked so I could spam away Tongue

Another thing, when I log on to the forum and click "New Posts", I can see all the unread posts since my last visit but if I go away and come back and refresh the page, threads that I've not actually read will be showing as read (i.e it's not in bold anymore and the number of new posts in brackets is no longer displayed). Is that a forum setting I can change? That's the reason why I reply to everything in one go, as I don't like missing threads!

If you click on Latest Forum Posts at the bottom of the home page it will give you the threads/posts you have not seen. You can also select the timeframe over which you want to see your missed posts.

Posted By: Spoonz
Date Posted: 04 Apr 2014 at 14:32
The new posts option is time based.

It looks at your last login time or the last time the ip of the pc was logged by the site and shows you new posts since then not by views. As many people view posts without logging in or from multiple pc's tracking it via user name or ip is more hit and miss than time alone.

All forum software generally work that way. There is no real way of tracking an anonymous user potentially logging in from multiple sites from multiple computers. At least not a practical way for a forum or website.

The flood control is now 5 posts in 5 minutes and 20 second intervals. If you type faster than that you need to slow down and think of your health.

As said if you wish to see older posts you can change the recent post timescale by hours, days, weeks etc.

That's facebook for ya.
You have become too adept at social networking to the point of excess.

My Daughter can text without looking at the phone yet it takes me 20 mins for 5 words all buggered up by the predictive text which can't predict me for some reason.

It's only bumping into Sabre now and then that makes me feel young.
