2 things  -

1  You forgot Knock hill    - it is a great little micky mouse circuit in a 57 second a lap kind of way  with the hills and dips .

2  I have just checked and it is 440 miles to either Cadwell or Donnington Park  for me Ouch

Posted By: IanG

Bit of a trek for me as well but I suppose the most central is Donny so that makes more sense.

Would have preferred Anglesey or Oulton but that's the problem with living in the sticks,Donny is ok for me as long as the date suits.

Are we thinking during the week or w/end?

Zax, sorry for missing off Knockers.

I went for Snett for purely selfish reasons, it's my favorite track, and if you time it right, you can get 2 days there for the same price as 1 day at Donny or Sillystone.

never tried it with baffle in, they don't really suppress the DB's

My single Akra, with a baffle, got me a 'quiet word' from the Marshall's last august, and an advisory 'roll off past the pits', better than the instructor on the rice burner in front of me that got black flagged!😝

wherever we end up going ...we'll be fine!

the quiet days are usually weekends the no race meetings are booked ,each circuit has a limit of the noisey days they can do....we simply dont book onto the quiet one! done!

Am not very experienced on track so would prefer one that's "easier and not too complicated". The tight twisty ones I see watching BSB would scare the hell out of me.
I like the idea of plenty of run off in case it all goes pear-shaped !!

Snett is my 1st choice as the back straight is where I can make ground on Stew. However, I fear his recent 'thorough service' as it is to be known may not mean I can make too much. :-D My QA throttle will defo help though, cheers G, L and G aka Aprilia Performance. Whoop whoop! :-D

I've only done Anglesey days with them so I don't any different yet.

Booked on a Silverstone day a few years back, 3 groups £175. Got there, and they changed, without any notice, to a 4 group day. To make matters worse, they were an hour late signing on as they had forgotten the riders list, and when a few of us complained, got chinned off with 'Sorry, it's one of those things'. I asked for a part refund or credit as we lost about 45 mins of track time due to them changing group numbers and the late start. Now I don't take getting chinned off very well (ask Andijoe), so I spoke to the days manager, Mark I think his name was, and he told me, as an explanation for the change, that it was purely a financial choice, and if I didn't like it, tough. I responded by saying if he ever spoke to me in that tone again, I'd chin him, packed up, went home, and havnt used them since.

I've only ever used FE so far so cant comment how they compare with others. Have done about 11 td's so far and ocne they had a real sh*t day but other than that all fine. The briefings are a bit OTT (never ending rather than brief!). They have supposedly made a big effort to change their attitude recently.
Kev who runs it is one of those like it or lump it people which can grate with some although I keep myself to myself so not had any issue personally.

Worth keeping an eye on MSV themselves. Only run on their own tracks so rules out some of the choices but heard they are pretty well run & sometimes come up cheap. Normally run 4 groups in summer months / on longer days but believe most TD organisers do?

I concur with all of the above, even though I wasn't in attendance on this occasion I've been privy to the same kind of attitude. They seem to just be in it for the money and not for the rider then the mmoney.

No Limits all the way for me. Well run, free bacon buttie and will assist with your badmin if you've forgotten your paper part or both parts of your licence by ringing up DVLA to confirm you have a full licence.

I totally agree with three groups over four to gain more track time, but I wouldn't like to go open pit as I don't feel it would be much fun for guys who've not been on track before as it's always a bit daunting first time. And I've never had any problems with FE though if most prefer NL then fine by me.

What's best for less experienced track riders like me?
Donington or Oulton?

I have already said Oulton but I don't mind Donnington and I have managed to fall off at both , either are rather good

I've not done Oulton but heard it's quite technical so think Donington is better for a novice and you can see most of the circuit goin down craner plus nice and wide with loads of run off. More central too for the masses . When is the decision being made?

I was just saying oulton as ive done it as a novice and it was fantastic fun! Never done donny but was told it is very fast and if it does go wrong its usually at speed. Each to there own n all that , just be good to get everyone together which ever circuit is chosen

Can't wait for the date to be set, Oulton is only 15 minutes from my house so if it does end up being there I'm sure I can spare a bed or 2 for people traveling from a far!

I`m a novice at this track day lark tool, who cares where it is, so long as there are no feds & the grass n barriers are soft

Are there many Open Pit  track days at the 2 circuits leading the poll??

Open days (I have found tend to be a bit calmer at knock hill) as when you start to feel tired you can come in  and not feel that you are missing out on your track time  - therefore you can do as many or as few laps as you want.

the down side is that there will always be some faster guys and slower guys but in a large circuit this will matter less than on a short one .

yea I know ,where the f""k have I been , not been on track since the one outing at Snett in 2012 !!, my 1st TD was Caddy & yea its tight & technical ,but it keeps the speed down to also levels the playing field horsepower wise, they are all a road trip for me so dont mind , will have to dust off the r6 & replace the perished tyres, back to wobblers class for me then

running a poll for the date sounds like a good idea, in the meantime is there some sort of witchcraft we can conjure up to guarantee a dry day? ;-)
