I've found what I suspect is a very good deal on the RSV, though I may be blinkered by the fact I have just moved back from the states where they are with out a doubt what you would call an exotic and cost just as much....
I have a few questions that I havent found the answers for.
I am looking at a 98 Mille and I cant seem to find any information on the fuel system, is this bike EFI or Carbed, reason I ask is I like to dabble in tuning my bikes. I spent alot of time working on mine and friends bikes in the states setting them up for the track and dragstrip alike. I want to be able to continue this.
Also I cant seem to find too many aftermarket parts for the 98, lots listed for the 99-2003 which from what I can tell barring a fuel and brake change in 2001-2 they are the same bike?
Any advice on what I should be looking for in issues tht may not be apparent. Things such as valve issues, brake issues, engine in general, clutch, suspension and so on.

Hi R6. IMHO a Great bike, but like anything it's not perfect; for me it's the rear brake - it's very weak. Listen out for the sprag clutch; Start the bike a few times from cold, turn the engine over thumbing the start button to see if you can provoke a loud screech/metallic slapping. It's £400 in parts alone. If you hear anything that sounds unhealthy walk away - there's plenty more. Valves I've been told are fairly good. Take your time and get a good one and you won't be disappointed.[:)]

Bought my 2000 RSVR a few months ago (changed from a ZX9R C1 after years of Jap fours). Absolutely no complaints. Love the way the bike produces power and the handling is excellent - so much feedback and stability. Far more confidence inspiring than the 9. Can't imagine going back to a four now. BTW, All the RSV range is EFI so limited availability for tinkering, although Power Commanders, airboxes, exhausts can all be messed with to great effect. Go and get one, some terrific bargains to be had at the moment - you won't regret it. If you can go for two or three years newer than a 98 - better finish and paint on the later models and some of the niggles hav been ironed out.

What price are you thinking of paying for a 98 bike? the values seam to be way down at the moment and I am looking to sell a 52 Mille with less than 6,000 miles for below £4K so if you look around some real bargins.
