Strange (to me), my 08 Factory doesn't seem to use any oil ragging it to Wales, on track, etc. But commuting into London 40 mi/day (I know, I know, but my gixer6 'mule' is off the road at the moment) it uses quite a lot of oil. Doddering around, low cylinder pressure not helping rings to seal? Dunno. Anyone else find the same?
Haaaanyway, I've got the hump with taking the side panel off every week just to put 150cc of oil in. Anyone got a cute solution for an easy fill arrangement? I have in mind something like a filler cap milled/drilled out to take a plastic tube (e.g. reservoir tubing, or similar), run the tube up between the frame and side panel, bung in the top of the tube. All anodised and tricky-looking, mind (joke). Anyone know if the oil tank is pressurised with the engine running, i.e. would that lot need to be pressure tight? I haven't been able to find a neat solution on the net - any thoughts? Cheers, FatBoy

I've changed the factory standard dzus connectors with Philips head for ones with the handles on which are a finger-tip operation and ultra quick release. Just ensure that you pack out the head with some ptfe washers so that the handles clear the bodywork. They are a bit fiddly to fit initially but save an age when it comes to taking the side panel off... Just hope the thieving gits round my area dont read this thread! lol

i think the oil usage is quite specific to each bike and how it was run in, mileage etc.
My first Rsv in 2000 would use shed loads if I rang it's neck (i used to carry a bottle on tour) but my 2004 used almost none ever. The only difference being between the 2 in terms of my usage was i didn't stick to the manufacturers running in instructions for the 04 bike but i did on the first one.
Could just be coincidence or better tolerances on the newer bike. I also ran my Ducati not as per the manual and it to uses no oil.
