I had 6 Triumphs until 2 days ago when I traded my sweet T-595 fo a 2000 RSV R 17k on......
I never thought I'd ever own something like this bike.
Please be kind and tell me what I need to know so I don't damage it.
I've owned about 20 cycles , bmw..bsa...honda and now the 5 triumphs and the Aprilia.... but i've never studied Aprilia or Ducati....other then mag articals.I know about the battery tender...the rear axel recall....and a break leaver recall?.anything else??????

thanks ahead of time....
also for a fun time try ....
triumphtorque.co , if your into British bikes...these are the nicest folks I've found.
Cheers from Boulder Colorado. YELL-O Rred

Hi there

There were no recalls on the 2000 model bikes that i am aware of. I owned one from new for 4 years and have never had a recall.

in general if you keep the batt in good condition you will be fine. If it's low don;t try and start it as the spag clutch hates flat batts.

Same as on the Daytonas...
I blew out the sprag on my 1996 Super III

almost $2000 to fix. ....so I bought the RSVR

if you google Aprilia RSVR recalls ...they come up... rear axel shatters..break leavers misaligned...on some models...Falco , i think. it's a dealer fix. thanks Spoonz

hello Matey welcome, I'll take it you've sold the TT's as well then? - post a pic up when you get a chance. there's a few wiring mods you can do to help the bike, take a look in the common mods section.

cheers

D-BALL's................

I have always had bikes that were 3 in 1 or 2 in one ...i always thought all collected into one was the best , is there any advantage to the twin?.......... maybe if tth ebike is never raced...i will never do that!!!!.................the twin cans might be optimal.
I'm looking to set this bike up for long rides and weekends...i am not rich enough to play the track day "ting" ...i don't do wheelies or stoppies and pretty much detest...no , thatsharsh...do not respecect ANYONE that thrashes a bike....unless they have a sponser..IMHO

GUYS.SERIOUSLY...HELP!!!
there is something really wrong with my RSVR....it will not track @ LOW SPEEDS. It's fekking dangerious!
it wiggles and shifts...i cannot hold a straight line...WTF?,.... I's dangerious...I need to take it back to the dealerand make them fix what ever in hell is wrong.
is it the forks?
rear axel out of align?
I can't believe a "racer" bike would feel like sh*t..especialy at $17K more the a 9k triumph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and everyone complains about the back brake...WTF...why would a company produce an amazing machine and not put great rear brakes on?????

can't the owners start a campaine to make Aprilla respond with superior products?
hat to say this but right now i widh i'd bought a trouble free Honda Interceptor....or kept the Trumpu T 595 .

hey matey, there's something wrong with it is if doing that - I'd be straight back up the dealers if it was me. Get a 3rd party to do a alignment check, it may be something as simple as tyres or something a little more like a tweaked frame - so deffo get it checked bud.

Mine has always handled superbly - so you've got issues deffinitely!

Back brake should also work reasonably well if bled properly.

I would question the dealers PDI personally. If they test rode it a glaring handling issue would have shown up.

Thanks guys , hope to get it back to the dealer the week after x-mas .
thought about the tyre pressure..?...so i'll check that later today.
On the UP SIDE...at speed there seems to be no problem and the roar and punch is so fine.
sorry to sound like a sad sack...just worried there may be something really messed up. thanks for the good input. I did read the thread on here about the brake fluid etc. to the back brake.
my Daytona Super III has brimbo 6 calipers on it...best breaks around...IMHO. cheers gang , I'll let you know what the trouble turns out to be.

Well i may be talking rubbish but my 02 RSVR tracked badly at low speed and i thought it was damaged in some way but passed all MOTs and when i changed the tyres / serviced the forks the odd feel pretty much went away.

I put in down to needing fork service and sensitive to tyre choice.

Oh and i found it MUCH more stable at low speed changing to a 190 rear.

Just my thoughts for what its worth.

tight steering damper?  Not sure you have one fitted, but worth a look.

Tyres biggest issue.  ride with worn ones and it 'feels' crap.  Change front and back together and riding is transformed.....always catches me out.  Tyre pressures too.

After that you have suspension and head bearings.  Likely that the bottom head bearing is worn as this takes the load.  Previous owner may have been a wheely nutter....so bottom bearing can be the issue.

Try resetting the shocks to factory settings for preload comp and rebound (make a note of the current settings so you can go back to them).  Then get it set up proper....this will be the best money ever spent.

Get the wheel bearings checked out too.

Have the shocks been serviced fully in the past?  If not they will need to be done.

Most importantly, to check the oil the bike needs to be WARM, normally 20 minutes or so should make it warm enough. It's a dry sump, so different from most bikes.

thanks guy's lots of stuff to go over...we have cold and snow down now and even wit a week of 50f coming , the roads are sanded and the drive in my park is 3 inches of ice , so i can't even get to the road.

I always let it warm until the "cold" sign goes off...and I'm not a thrasher.
It did think about tire pressure but as i said...cold..so maybe next week if it stays dry.

tires are Dunlap sportmax..brand new , dont think i've ever had many dunlaps.
Metz and Coni's mostly.

is there a choice tire for street?
I don't track day or race....something with reasonable tire life on the RSVR.

pre load etc..good idea...I'll hjave the shop do it. if any of the equipt ment is faulty they have to replace...via contract.
