My very last ride on my 675 daytona was out with a mate on his 18plt V4 Touno. As Mikey stated the 675 lump is an absolute peach I miss mine should never if sold it but the trackday habit took over and she was too pretty to abuse. On that ride which was very spirited on bumpy b roads I could keep up but was absolutely wringing its neck. However on my own I never felt like it's power was lacking and it was a joy to ride. No one needs more but we buy what we want for many reasons. Best thing to do is try and find a dealer with your shortlist in Stock and try them back to back. Tough life eh picking a new toy

I've recently swapped from. V4 1100 to a Tuono 660 factory and I don't regret it one bit.
Don't let the 660cc engine or non Ohlins suspension put you off. This bike is a joy to ride and sounds amazing too. |

Thanks for all the input........always interesting what other peoples viewpoints are and yes, its a very personal choice and only a test ride will cement the decision.
Funnily enough, my riding mate has a 675 street triple (with the twin round headlights) and it is lovely to ride, cracking engine/power, however I'm just not a fan of its looks to be honest. Gremin, what were you reasons for swapping ? |

the 660 is half a v4 engine so lots of tuning bits coming out for them like airbox, velocity stacks , race maps etc usual exhaust and some good suspension stuff
being raced in mini twin class has no doubt helped

I had the V4 for two years and really enjoyed it but I wasn't able to exploit all that power in the twisty roads I round in North Yorkshire and Cumbria.
I often thought it would be a better bike with a smaller engine! So I bought the 660 without a test ride and loved it. Btw, I have a 2010 Street Triple 675 too which I really like. Done nearly 25k on it. |

I have to admit, the Street Triple is starting to grow on me now......... much better choice out there and I've never owned a Triumph.
I've ridden my mates Gen 1 Street Triple and it has a lovely engine, I would go for the R or RS version if Triumph is the path I go down.

MrsR had a '11 plate striple for ages & it was awesome at everything. Last year she traded it for a 765RS which is just awesome. If we only had one bike that's the one we would keep.

The KTM 890 Duke R gets good reviews, as does the new 890 smt.

I’ve often thought that the dukes look too much like a trail bike with road tyres on, but they get very good reviews.

I think it’s gonna be a Street Triple 765 RS……. Not really a “pizza bike” 😉…..better suits my age, riding style and image ✊
I used to have a diesel estate (Mazda 6) but now it’s a 72 plate petrol Qashqai 👍

all jokes aside - its a proper pizza delivery London commuter - gutless engine and sound horrendous with the stock pipe- how do i know - spent a lot of time with one - brother bought it new - ![]() ultra ultra bland, you would have more fun on a rs125 its another 190kg bike with barely a 100bhp at the wheel. if i had a people carrier for a car i wouldn't want my weekend toy to be the people carrier of motorbikes, definitely not when you can pick up a relatively clean 15 plate blade for 5-7K - speaking strictly for myself that is. but again if your commuting through a city canter or delivering just eat orders daily its probably great. |

So I’m guessing in your opinion if it’s not an RSV4, it must be crap 💩
Unfortunately my budget won’t stretch that far so I guess I’ll be doing a deliveroo stint sooner rather than later

yes but i also suggested a blade. i own 4 sport bikes currently only one is an RSV4. at least on the people carrier pizza delivery bike you will be comfy on thoes Deliveroo's [/QUOTE]I feel like I'm repeating myself here......... As per my original post, sports bikes are a no no due to my advancing years, riding position, been there done that etc, so the RSV replacement has to be a roadster/naked, therefore a Fireblade is not an option. I certainly wouldn't be replacing my RSV with a Japanese UJM equivalent, I'd rather stick hot pokers in my eyes...and keep the RSV thank you very much ! I also don't need anything like the power of an RSV4... I don't do trackways, and the roads down here in Cornwall are murderous in the summer.......and boy it's been mental this summer. I have to fight my way through heavy clogged traffic for 100 miles to find decent empty(ish) A roads around Exeter/North Devon to really enjoy a ride.....it's about value for money for me, so around 100/120bhp is the sweet spot. I could buy a V4 but what's the point in that...it would be wasted. I took my wife's 600 hornet on one of my favourite roads down to St Mawes, I could wring its neck and theres my point. You keep banging on about pizza delivery bikes, you're entitled to your opinion of course, and I respect that, but doesn't really contribute much to this thread now does it. Now if I were to start a thread that asks "what's the best bike you've owned and why"....the floor would be yours sir ![]() Nuff said |

Way down deep in the middle of the Congo, A hippo took an apricot, a guava and a mango. He stuck it with the others, and he danced a dainty tango. The rhino said, "I know, we'll call it Um Bongo" Um Bongo, Um Bongo, They drink it in the Congo. The python picked the passion fruit, the marmoset the mandarin. The parrot painted packets, that the whole caboodle landed in. So when it comes to sun and fun and goodness in the jungle, They all prefer the sunny funny one they call Um Bongo! Hi Adam, I memorised this advert as a boy, in case the occasion should ever arise that I could thrill and entertain others with this little ditty. It sadly never really happened, but I'm pleased to announce that today IS that day. Another life ambition ticked off my bucket list. Arf ![]() |
