Hi Guys,

as per my other post lets see your projects , they can be non aprilia, even non-bike related , we like to see what you are up to.

any racebike buils going on?, custom exhaust, gen 2 engine or head conversions for your old gen1 to give it a new lease of life?

shed/garage/mancave builds

garden landscape, driveway stuff even decorating! Shocked

got any classic bike builds or just resurrecting a bike that may have sat for a year or 2 ..I know I have the  falco to sort not ridden it since 2018!! needs clutch slave cylinder for starters then a service..

but first I in the list to sort is a 1960 lambretta

and this is what its meant to look like , mine looks nothing like this

mine is a pile of rusty crap..i kid you not...look below Confused

as you can see it has the all important V5 so that saves messing about it needs everything and then some.

it was literally a frame and some panels, the cost to replace the missing

the engine had a snapped con rod and the bottom end was solid so not even looked at that

the last time I had a Lambretta was 20 years and have prices increased since then for parts etc.

I was in a good position , my mate who has the same model was about to upgrade his with all manner of goodies so I bought from him a rebuilt engine with a 200cc topend...slightly tuned of courseWink, wheels/tyres ,saddle covers, hubs, brakes  and few other bit and bobs.

work so far has included getting all the bits sand blasted , realising that some of it is scrap, the frame needs some repair plates welded due to rust , only one hole but a little dimpled in places and of course the frame loop needs welding on..not the one in the pics as that is too far gone and has been butchered by the previous owner. I managed to track another frame loop and panels ( still quite rough but better then what I had ) on FB and managed to get one of the aprilia boys to pick it up and drop off to Griff and Snox who kindly boxed it up and sent it on.

I have started to buy bits and bobs for the rebuild ,  just handle bars and horncast( where the headlight bolts too ) can cost more than I have paid for the project if you buy genuine italian innocenti parts so I have bought some Indian made part , they are a little rough round the edges but I couldn't justify the cost of Italian parts.

I paid approx. 270 for this complete kit of the handlebars with all control rods etc light, kill switch etc etc  , I would have just got a bare horncasting for that !!!

so I'm currently at a stage where I am waiting for a mate to weld it up so I can start putting it back together ..its never going to be a shiny show ride so its going to be a ratlook scooter , the purists will hate it , not that I care

so that's me , the scooter is spread between 2 lockups  no power etc so as always with my stuff will go together as and when..but I'd like to be riding this year some time.

so that's what I am up to ...lets see what you guys are doing ...either here on this post or start your own, Thumbs Up

Got the Mille below, waiting to put Falco headers on but might be a pain trying to make it all fit with gen 2 Akras and link pipes and no access to people to help resize flanges etc at the moment. Got some TRW rearsets to go on as well but sorting other projects first before tackling that.

Also got the Beta Trials bike which just need tidying a bit, got so bored the other day i rode it round the front garden a few times.

Then there's the PW 80's
First one is complete but untidy, needs a bit of TLC, Wasn't going to repaint plastics but decided it would keep the eldest out of trouble to sand etc. Painted this bit so far.

This is what it looks like at the moment, found a bit that needs welding, so need to get that sorted.

And then there's the other one. Just a pile of bits really! Bought and engine and frame for £50 decided to take the engine completely to bits just for fun and picked up some more bits to make pretty much a complete bike. Here's what i have so far.

So all that's enough to keep me out of trouble for a while, as well as working, Baptist minister, check out Caton Baptist on youtube! and of course there's the rest of the house/garden to sort out and 3 kids to entertain, sorry i mean educate! Wink

I'm here ...  still hanging on Big smile

First Llambretta I ever had was one of those old Ld's,first scooter though was a Vespa 90? iirc.

By the time my last scooter came round it was a sort of ratbike anti scooter statement, basic U frame,no floor boards, sidepanels just a head set.

It was basically an Li150 ser2 with a Tv175 top end, barrel bored to 225cc and heavily ported, fed by a 32mm Amal concentric carb and exhausted by an Ancillotti ? race expansion box.

Fast a f*kc,had the legs on a 500cc Triumph Daytona up to 60+ Mph

Main problem was the radial retaining pins on the flywheel cooling fan ring used to centrifuge out and jam into the housing causing the crank to twist on the crankpin locking the engine up.

Gave it away as a going concern and bought a project Triumph Tiger 90 instead and that started my foray into bikes proper.

Actually no,that's not true, the first powered vehicle I actually had was an old BSA Bantam 125 rigid frame D1 bought with my paper round money, 30 bob as I recall Shocked  ( That's £1.50 to you kids LOL )when I was 13

Only project ongoing now is cleaning the Tuono as and when I can manage. Hence the proposed ABBA Skylift to make the job easier.

I should really strip the forks out again to rectify the shim stacks after my last slight misstep, plenty more to come in that direction.

I also plan to strip the tank and replace the filters and the internal hoses when I feel able and the mood takes me.

Not much if anything needs doing to the Aprilia, apart from a wash and polish, so I decided to take the Akrapovic exhaust off the Honda and give it a better than normal clean.
Considering I've never removed it since getting the bike about 7 years ago now, it came off pretty easily.

People say I don't know Jack Sh1t; but I do, he lives next door.

The Audi is fitted  with a supercharged R32  - Flappy Paddle DSG  - Doesnt run/drive (unless being pushed - heavy old bitch at around 1700 kgs)

The Capri is still in N.Z (a little virus has kept it there), It raced from the mid 70's through to 2012 (various guises and owners), will be racing it (hopefully track days too). Currently fitted with a Chev 383 V8 pushing around 600 BHP.

Hahaha....love this thread!

Self confessed Lambretta fag here.
I had a TV175 and a SX200.
Took the SX to a rally in Rhyl...parked it up down a side street...went back 30 mins later, some scrote had nicked the front rack, rear rack, florida bars and side panels...gutted.
Anyway...OP...good luck with the resto...keep posting updates & pics.
fwiw...flogged them both for about £30.

Ian...you mentioned flywheel failure?
Both of mine failed in that area, the woodruff key slot in the crank kept breaking. LOL

That as well, forgotten about those.   I got really good at making woodruff keys with a hacksaw and file after a while.

Trouble was with higher compression and more revs if the key held then the next weak spot was the  flywheel boss which split down the stress points at the corners of the groove instead thereby taking out the flywheel as well as the crank taper Ouch

I did that more than once

Luckily a second hand crank could be picked up for very little back when I was building them

Happy days

As mentioned in another post, currently cleaning up a GSXR750 srad, and whilst the weather is good sort the rust spots out on the VW T4, then clear the decks and start putting together a GS1000 which has cost a small fortune in bits over the last 4 years, but will be much fun building up, should go well when its finnished........hopefully !

Not really a project, so not worthy of a dedicated thread but here are a few pics illustrating my extended winter tinkerings…

As you can see, she's pretty much naked with the (plastic) tank currently living in the house in the hope that it slots back on without the need for any muscle.

She's been treated to a new RK 520 chain and accompanying Renthal sprockets…

The cockpit now features Renthal Gen3 clip-ons, Brembo radial master cylinders and a Robby Moto quick-action throttle.
Still to go on are the new Brembo fluid reservoirs which I think I'm going to mount off the m/c clamp mirror mounts with bracketry of some description and yet to be decided…

Also outstanding is the fuse and relay box relocation to allow clearance for the radial master cylinders. Any advice, guidance and pictures to help with this, from those that have already done it, would be much appreciated.
As you can see, I've got as far as to take them off the front sub-frame and unwind about 20ft of electrical tape, to free them up a bit…

I'll also be needing some eccentric lock-stops and AP are out of stock...REDRAT!?!?

Oh and because bored…

The rearset issue needs sorting as well, so mine are currently for sale but if anyone has a minty set of AP rearsets and fancies a change of scenery…

These beauties don't work with the 2-2 Akra pipes unfortunately.

Kind of, but probably going black with the gold and white decals as opposed to the traditional red.

Yes it looks vintage, but great stuff, something about 70's-80's muscle bikes, must be an age thing !
