Hello to one and all. Just joined the Tuono Appreciation Society after years on "straight four" sports bikes - loving every minute. Two things immediately strike me; you have to "give it a bit more" when pulling away in first, almost as if previous owner has buggered about with the gearing (it's an '04 bike) making it seem almost like pulling away in second on my old ZX6. Any comments on this? Secondly, neutral is an absolute pain to find with any degree of consistency. Anybody else have similar difficulties, or are my problems entirely down to me having the delicate touch of a paralytic pachyderm wearing clogs? Look forward to receiving your advice, abuse and wisdom in equal measure! [}:)] I hear thunder, I hear thunder

Sounds like your clutch might need bleeding. Its a known issue with all RSV's, from the early ones through to your 2004 model. It's not a big job, can easily be done at home. What I normally do to get neutral, is stick it in first if I cant find it and release the clutch slightly to roll forward a wee bit, then it usually *snicks* up into neutral nae bother.

Thank you, oh wise one. I will see about bleeding clutch but use your recommended method in the meantime. Any comments on the gearing? Cheers Sid I hear thunder, I hear thunder

Sid hopefully you are getting on OK with the bike now. Neutral is difficult and I would suggest fitting a 1 tooth smaller front sprocket than standard, this makes a great difference.

Cheers, Twin4me. Getting on great with the bike, neutral easier to find now, as well. How much would it cost to change the front sprocket down one tooth? Seems a lot of RSV riders do this as well. Cost would need to include a mechanics time as well. If I took a spanner to my beloved machine it would probably look more like R2D2 by the time I put it back together, and I'd still have enough bits left over to make a nice Aprilia toaster! Sid 16T sprocket is about £20 give or take Fitting will cost you half an hour if they are straight with you, but it is a piece of piss to do. Standard sprockets are 17/42 front/rear Tuono, Italian for Thunder

Shees, I don't mean to sound rude but if you can't fit a front sprocket by yourself one wonders why you bought such a bike. [}:)] It's the equiv of mowing the grass...............[8)]
