Oh dear

Not heard of that one before. I assume you tried disconnecting the battery totally and reinstalling not and then put key in ignition and let it attempt to sweep?
Outside of that I’ve never seen this. Gen1 or Gen2 ?

If it doesn’t reset after a batt disconnect, try removing neg from batt and touch it on the batt neg terminal. You should find the tach needle will jump about 1k with each touch until it’s correct.

Okay well try to remove connectors.

Negative first, then positive. If it doesn’t reset or Spoonz trick doesn’t solve it and in any case reconnect positive first then the negative.
Clutching at straws here but apart from potential sparks I don’t know if connecting the wrong order may blow a fuse or make electrics misbehave. Sounds like it started it’s check gauge sweep then was interrupted?

Just been trying to use the above methods, nothing is working, I did disconnect and reconnect the battery in the correct order.  its doing the gauge sweep but just goes back to the position its in. Tapping the negative terminal doesn't work either,  it wants to move when I tap it but it stuck  AngryAngryAngryAngry

Or this

Most point to water ingress or just age.

Either way sounds like take it apart and check for broken solder or corrosion

I’m sure you are not fussed about mileage so maybe worth getting a replacement dash
Falco ones fit and end of the day I’m sure it’s just revs / oil pressure you really want to be aware of?

Did you find a fix for this?  I had a similar issue with mine.  Turned out the needle was loose and had moved on the shaft.  Fairly common apparently.  Try opening your clocks up removing the needle and putting it back in the correct place.

Sorry didn't read your whole post, seems you have already tried this? Did you actually physical take the needle off the shaft and place it back on in the correct place.  Seems odd it would go back to the same place when it would no longer be in the same place on reference to the shaft.
