Heads now been worked. Got a nice little head tuner doing a bit of shrouding. Got to pick them up in the week. He reckons the inlets needed a tiny touch too but the exhaust was pretty good. If it wasn't for the big bore he said there wasn't much to be gained really as rotax got them pretty good to begin with. Pretty much what Griff said to me a while back.....still ongoing, almost started getting it sorted but thought I might as well get the heads looked at, then been sorting the new tiger out...that's needed loads doing to get it right, just fitted a bigger front sprocket to that tonight. Too many jobs and no time!

glad to see both your build sare moving on tap and diggs

yep it seems rsv's respond to the big bore as the ports are quite large and port velocity is slow but bigbore helps speed it up

"Yes, it seems with the standard bore the valves are a bit 'shrouded'- so close to the cylinder walls as to restrict flow -and the ports on the Gen II heads are a bit too large, which hurts intake velocity. This is why a larger bore increases HP more than the percentage of increase would suggest. The valves flow better as the cylinder wall moves farther out, and the larger displacement improves intake velocity, "

also you were talking about bigger injectors before ...did you decide to go this route

"Micah / AF1 Racing
The stock injectors at the stock 3.5 bar pressure are maxxed out at 96% duty cycle at 130bhp on my dyno"

and another thing are you using 57's or going to have them bored bigger Evil Smile

Bigger injectors yes , not sure about throttle boddies , might be better with a sedentary of header pipes

Good things are moving for yr BB conversions guys. RR the intake velocity thing makes sense when you see how close the bores are to the valve edges.
I've considered 60mm TB's but you need a very good machine shop plus the pics on af1 at the mo don't look good IMO (just not quite right)   I think they would only benefit a track/race motor.
I'm hoping to go down the cam route like Diggs as I would like to move peak torque up the rev range as my BB will be a track bike motor

Well Griff will be Lol
later in the year when I stop spending on trackdays

The motor IMO has a lot of punch out of corners at most revs which can catch you out in slow corners, hence the reason for moving peak torque(n most days r at snetterton so would be good to have more hp at the top, piss off the zx10's n 1000RR's) :)

I'm keeping my TBs the same, to take advantage of the increased velocities.....I think bigger TBs may impact this a bit.
Jury is still out on the injectors.  I found a site where you can get a whole range of bosch spurters so you do not have to go too big, just go to the right size.  95% duty is a bit on the top end I think...would be good to pull this back to 85-90%.  Still thinking about it though.

Time is my enemy at the moment, the missus got me booked every weekend....so I'm only able to do a little bit here and there.  Pick the heads up this week...so thats a little bit done!

I said I take a few days off work, got a bike to sell, one to service, one to mod, one to build and a car to service...missus said 'fat chance!' if I take time off I can have the kids!!!!  Fook that, I'm staying at work!
