News today, spoke to PJME, they have the new bores, so they gonna bore out and nikelsil them. Decided not to go steel lined now. Might impact reliability, might not. At least a proper firm is on it now. They will mail back to me direct once ready and they have the pistons to match to. So getting there.

To be honest, with my kids so young I don't get a lot of spare time...so even though I'm well behind my plan I may as well bring forward other plans such as a respray and ceramic coating exhaust headers and link pipe, as I just had those water blasted to perfection. I think I'll go full on and go for an immaculate build...hopefully make more power than beano....!!!!

I'm surprised you have gone with a plated bore after all the negative comments they get , that tells me pj engineering must have faith in nicasil bores or they wouldn't do it .

I guess. After all the ball ache I went with plated just to get them back. PJME have done the bore out on 2 replacement cylinders as the ones I had were just not salvageable. I spoke to them last week, and bores are getting plated then will have final hone, then delivered back to me.

If they crack afterwards, it won't ruin the engine, I'll just get a pair from la sleeves. Means more work, but I won't have to do the heads again, or cam timing.....

Almost a year since I bought that kit....fook me. Next time I'll look before leaping......

When playing not so familiar area it's better tohave a safe (=spare) - were you urgrading an other block ?

I've full three engines in total Cool , one running ( in frame), one spare in full working order and the original slightly blown to be upgraded 11xx cc one.

Original engine still in bike, spare being worked...chose the spare due to its unbelievable low milage. Next week should see return of all parts and ready to get on and finish the build.....but then....how many times I said that now???!!! I'm going to start a new thread once ready to continue, put this one to bed.

I can't help but wonder if the enthusiasm has died.....found out today the bores are just about ready, pending final checks....should be with me before end of this week.

If the bores are now spot on, I can't but help wonder what the next issue will be. I'm hoping the pistons will have the right clearance to the valves once the can timing in dialed in....but its a lot of work to get there. Fingers crossed...I didn't see any difference between stock piston and big piston when I measured them against each other on the valve insets. I'm secretly hoping the other pistons on Beanos bike were fitted to bores that were off centre.

Too many things to worry about.

At least I know mine will be spot on...so onwards and upwards I guess.

Finally!

I got a call from the bore guys at PJME.  The bores are finished and have passed final inspection, both spot on to the supplied pistons.

Now in the post!!!!!!!!

What a day yesterday.  Picked up the new Triumph too.

Now I have to sell the Pegaso Strada, but put it back to stock first, clean it.  No room in the garage to build the engine.  Anyone interested?

14 pages long this thread now!

Would you believe it.....I got the new bores back!!!
Looks like a bloody good job too, immaculate, clean in every corner, shiney ally ready to paint, install. Woo hoo!
First impressions is the gap being pretty spot on, both bores feel the same. I'll do some measuring to make sure. Actually feel pretty good now. New post up soon......new blog to follow.
Its been a year since I bought the kit....October found the first issue, bores went back, Feb second issue, bores went back, new company, better cred, new bores, June got them back.....anyone thinking of dealing with jet bore in wolves....run a bloody mile! They sh1t. PJME on the other hand, superb!

Your looking at around a 10-15 percent increase everywhere!

But it does depend totally on the modifications and your motor!

And what with Nitrous Griff? There was a folk tale once that you were thinking of doing that to yours - 'in your spare time - I think was the story
