Looking for some advice based on experience of summer riding gloves. I want a comfortable, non bulky pair of gloves with good protective qualities that won't cost most of my monthly salary. Around £50 is my max. I'd like some feedback based on gloves people have actually used (abused ?) not what the mags say, cos they just confuse me with thier if and buts and maybes and stupid bloody rating systems. Rant over - please respond ! Unqualified "these are good value" or "these are crap" will do nicely ! PS - they must be available in red and black (with a bit of white ideally !) An older variant of the Alpinestars SP-1 gloves is what I use in summer. They worked out at under £50 brand new from an eBay seller in the USA. I rate them highly. Havent "tested" them out yet in a spill, but they feel substantial and protective enough. Very comfortable to wear, the jointed/articulated finger design help a lot in that department. Velcro on one cuff adjuster began to come away from the leather a bit just recently, but the good lady put a few extra stitches in 'em and that sorted them out. Aside from that, no problems at all. I would buy them again, but I believe they have had a design update since this model, not sure if they are better or worse. Anyway, here's a pic of them taken back in July ( ahhh......dry, bright weather......anyone remember that??!!! ):-

Always the first to respond, always with a useful perspective - I thank you Mr Ecosse !!! Will look for these, or thier replacements (called the SP 2 ingeniously enough!) at the show. Thanks again..... What we do in life echoes in eternity.....

I got some Alpine Stars, short around the wrist, carbon knuckles textile elsewhere - fine for commuting, but I wouldn't trust them at speed, it'd have to be leather. Mother Nature rides a biker

Got myself a pair of SP2s at the show. Nice fit and feel, look like providing good protection and the right colours ! Nearly had my head turned by a pair of Wolf kangaroo skin jobs tho', but none of the sizes seemed to fit as snug as the SP2s. Much obliged for the help gents - advice heeded !
