Hey lads, i am about to take stock of a new st/st oval exhaust and chip for my rsv, is the chip just plug in an play so to speak? also is there any advantage in going for an evo race air kit? or just a filter? Thanks Les!

Team an Evo up with it to make the most of the can and chip. I've got an Evo on mine and aside from the extra grunt it gives you ( as if it needed any more!!! ), they make a fan-bloody-tastic sound gulping all that lovely fresh air in!!. This pretty much explains the chip fitting, with pictures. It's for a Falco, but the procedure is practically identical to the Mille:- http://www.geocities.com/sl_mille/dyno-install.html Make sure you take note of what way the original chip is fitted before removing it. Either buy an earth strap from a PC place or go hold onto something big and metal for about 30 seconds or so, in order to discharge any static you might have. A household radiator does the trick. Static will kill your old and new chip, its very rare, but its not worth taking the chance!! Then make sure your new chip goes in the same way. I think theres a lug or something, perhaps a "dot" which signifies Pin#1, that means you "shouldn't" be able to fit it wrongly, but make sure its in the right way before you apply any pressure as forcing it will most probably break the thing. Then have fun....!!! I highly recommend the Evo. A lot of folk prefer the Rene Airbox, as its very good too, but I've been more than happy with my Evo kit. If you need any advice on fitting one, give me a shout, its pretty easy and I've posted pictures of the procedure before on other forums when I did it on my bike last year. [:)]

Hey Lads, fitted my new exhaust and chip on saturday, changed the chip as described, only thing i might have done is handled the new chip without dis-charging myself from static, switch the ignition on and the ecu just kept clicking and the efi warning message flashed constantly, tried to start the bike and it was having none of it, sound like the timming was all over the place, replaced with old chip and it fired up straight away, have i done something wrong? i have not got another chip from understanding mate who just replaced it, can these chips be duff? has anyone else had any problems like this? i would appreciate any feedback before i fit the new one and get the same result. Thanks Les!

Unless the chip was newly boxed I'd suspect either yourself or the previous owner may have disrupted it[:(] Mother Nature rides a biker

You can get a chip installation kit from Comet or similar with some little plastic tweezers that allows you to remove the old chip and install the new one without having to ever touch it. Or just wear some of the wives Marigolds?[:)] Mother Nature rides a biker

Just a note about changing the chip. Beleive it or not my Mille R actually produces 5 bhp with the standard chip, K&N Filter and Aprilia race can. Also, power delivery was better. This was checked on a rolling road.
