The best adjustable ones I’ve fitted so far are the abm multiclip, adjustable in every possible way, I’ve fitted them to my hayabusa and I’ve another set for my fireblade.

Here's something to think about. Most of us know how painful carpal
tunnel syndrome can be and that bikers are very prone to it due to the
position of our arms/wrists whilst riding. My brothers had both wrists
done and it wasn't nice. Well, completely
unrelated, but I was looking at the Logitech vertical mouse that is
supposed to minimise the chance of carpal tunnel from working at a
computer and came across a review on YouTube where it describes how the
problem is caused. I got me thinking that the old cafe race style of
clip-ons would probably be beneficial here as they angle downwards by
about thirty degrees and would act in the same way to keep your
arm/wrist at a better orientation. See the video here, move your hands/arms/wrists around as if you were on the bike and see what I mean. |

Good idea I think the late Jarno Sarrinnen ? rode with clipons like that, also many drag racers. If I hold my arms out in a comfortable riding position I would need around that angle of downward slope for comfort but unfortunately the only way to get that up to now would have been the old Jota bars. I find the normal angle bars/clipons cause an unnatural elbows out stance which gets tiring after a while. I'm also looking to change my Tuono bars for something with both flatter rise for a more forwards weight bias yet with a downward angled component. The only bars I've seen up to now also come as much wider than stock which I want to avoid, One of the guys on the American forum did once make a batch of a sort of adjustable Jota bar setup but although I have no doubt it was comfortable it looked so ugly I wouldn't entertain the concept. |

The beauty of straight bars is that for not much more than buying OE or aftermarket bars you could probably go to a fab shop (Maybe one who makes exhausts) and get some custom made? And I guess the same could be said for clip-ons with loose bar tubes, you could get them made with whatever angle you choose too insert into the clamp boss. The only issue with clip-ons is that with te extra drop from the angle created you might want to lift the clamping point on the fork legs so would need to find some that will do that for you. You might also come across bar / tank / fairing interface issues but the more I think about it the more it's worth thinking about.

Which is where the abm work, they’re adjustable in every direction.

That's true but as far as I can see downward angle is constrained to the +- 3o cant on the end of the bar itself, I would like around the 30o mark with a considerable rearward angle as well. As has been pointed out though this brings into conflict with tanks, dash etc and the only bars I've seen to overcome all these issues were so ugly as to exclude themselves from my consideration. On the other if one could get bars professionally made rather than a home workshop bodge it would probably work although I doubt enough people would be interested enough to make the idea financially viable. |

Motone do a rather smart-looking Jota bar...obviously needs a suitable top yoke on the fork.
