Evening all,

I’m pretty sure that I’ve got a slipping clutch. Only had the bike a couple of weeks and not really had a chance to ride it, apart from a couple of 20 mile journeys to work and a 50 mile round trip to the dealers for a recall on the brake pads. Of the 200 miles or so I’ve covered, 95% has been on the motorway. Coming back I rolled it on hard in 6th at about 60mph and the clutch slipped once the revs climbed to about 8k I’m pretty sure that it had nothing to do with the traction/wheelie control, although I’ve never even owned a bike with abs before, never mind aprc. It’s got aftermarket levers on it (Raximo) I’m thinking this might have something to do with it. Going to check the clutch free play in the morning and it’s also got Michelin’s on it as opposed to The stock Supercorsas. So I’ll the calibrate the Aprc as well. Anyone else had similar issues?

Hey mate

I’d expect it to be more the free play on the cable being too tight rather than the levers themselves. I’d need to read the manual but there is something like 1mm of free play required.

I’m not familiar with those levers off hand. So unless it has some strange oil in it or the clutch is genuinely worn (unlikely) I’d think it most likely a wrongly adjusted cable.

Start there and check the manual. 1-3mm sounds about right

Did you take the plunge and buy one?

I’m going to go and check the cable free play this morning, hoping to get out for a few hours this afternoon if the weather holds out. I’d never heard of those levers either. Had a look online they’re selling at about £100 for the pair. So they don’t seem to be AliExpress specials.

Got it sorted, it’s a bit a ball ache getting it into neutral, reminds me of the Gen2 Tuono 🤣

What did you do?

It’s an Aprilia trait on all of them I think 😆

I set the adjuster at the lever to 3 turns out from the stop and then adjusted it to 2mm free play using the adjuster at the clutch casing. There’s definitely a bit of drag and as I say neutral is harder to find, but it’s not slipping. I’ll try loosening it off a quarter turn at a time the next time I go out until it slips again and then I should have a reference point. I definitely think it’s got something to do with the levers though. Maybe the shape or the actual travel. Wish I had the stock levers so I could make a comparison.

How are you finding the new bike? Today I did 140 miles from Glasgow up to Inveraray and back. I think I’m falling in love with this machine. Smile
