Topic: Gen 2 RSVR Header SizesPosted: 24 Jul 2016 at 08:50 |

Hi everyone, having a bit of a head scratching moment here.
Got an 07 Bold'or RSVR and an 03 RSVR. The 03 currently has the stock Grey cans fitted, I had been considering coring them out but do have a pair of SP Engineering cans kicking about, so thought using them might be a better idea and keeping the stock cans in the corner. Anyway, here's the issue, my headers (where they exit into the link pipes) on the 07 are 54mm OD (I seem to remember thats 1.125" ?) but the headers at the same point on the 03 are 57mm OD 1.25"). Is that normal to have two different sizes across the years? I can't find much on the web about different sized outlets so am wondering if I have some unusual headers dimensions on one of these bikes. I don't really want to buy any new cans and link pipes before knowing what I already have. After taking a look at a few after market exhaust sites I'm not seeing various options for different year models.....just RSVR 04-08 and being that my current cans on the 03 are stock I'm presuming that the larger of the two are the correct standard size (57mm).......but in that case, what the hell sort of unusual small headers have I got fitted on the 07?? :( The actual header joints are different on both bikes as well, the 07has a welded ring to stop the can slipping too far down the header whereas the 03 just has the little notches to locate the tailpipes. Anyone have any idea what the stock width of the header/link pipe should be or what might be going on here?

Cool, I think what I have here is a bit of an odd set of headers on the 07.
Possibly after market I think. It has been in a bit of a pile up at some stage so wondering if it's had something strange put on there. |

This is the 07 link pipe joint.......the headers are 50mm OD ! Brazed on spring hooks and a very nice brazed collar on the pipe to limit the link pipe. They seem to be very nice quality and seem to be made from burnished stainless (certainly not the same as the headers on the other earlier bike. The headers have take off points with stainless blanking screws that are lock wired in. So, does anyone know what or why these headers are an odd size? Is it normal? Cheers fellas.

If it's wire locked like that it's normally a aftermarket isn't it my akra one is wire locked the same as that. I could be wrong don't have a gen 2 but my 2n2 is
That could be why it's not fitting right again I could be wrong don't have a gen 2 the gen 1 isn't wire locked like that on oem But the aftermarket ones are |

Thanks Mark, I appreciate your input as...in general no-one I've spoken to has much of an idea why they'd be that odd dimension.
It looks like my Mums husband wants to buy my 07, so certainly don't want to sell him anything I'm not sure of as he's a good lad. I'm planning on keeping Daves old 03 as my own bike and very happy to have another Ape fanatic in my family. Anyone seen these header pipes before? |

I've got lock wire all over the place on this bike........it's immaculately prepared and really well done, all the wiring is sheathed and cable tied, someone has spent a lot of time on it. It just seems a bit odd for a bike that came from a write off dealer (down in Egham.....you probably know the one) to be prepared and fettled like that?

If you can take a pic of the headers under the shock linkage we might be able to tell more. A fully lock wired bike means ex race bike so someone might know the bike
