Quick request as I am having bother with my fork bottoms which by part number don't seem to exist.

If you have an 03 Mille R or Eddy with radial Öhlins could you please tell me what part number is on your fork bottoms. You'll find it stamped vertically on the inside of the fork bottom where it attaches to the stantion.

Thanks.

Actually I supose it wouldn't hurt to know the part number on any 04 Factorys too as this is becoming a mission and since my bike seems to have been put together on Any Part Friday, the fork bottoms could be off anything.

Apparently not. That would be WAY too simple.

Almost impossible to see with the wheel on think the left one says FG8901 2003 05 15 & the right one FG6901 2003 05 15 but I would have to take the wheel off to be sure

Brilliant, thanks. FG6901 is what I have but with a month earlier production date. Not easy to read as you say and brake dust doesn't seem to kind to the stamping which doesn't help.

Out of curiosity, with yours also being a late 03 R, did yours come with 57mm throttle bodies and an RR engine designation? Still trying to find others in the Eddy-ish half breed camp.

Can anybody else chime in please? Need to find out if these fork bottoms were exclusive to 03 Rs or whether they were used longer.

Thanks Mark. Appreciate it.

Hmm...starting to to think this may be a production run number. Yours is older than mine (April 04. I have read mine as 6901 but looking at it, it could be 8901.) and Nikfubar's so FG8900.  Hard to see. Anyone got an 04 Factory who could check their's please? Then the big question is; is there a difference between any of them?

Mine was one of the last 03's registered in 04, pretty sure it's got standard throttle bodies but never actually checked. How do you tell if they are 57mm, I assume get a set of verniers on them Confused Checked the engine designation a while back and it's not an RR

Yep. Verniers would be ideal. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason behind the few odd ones out there. Perhaps they were just next on the production line after the Eddys.

I'll have a look on the yellow peril, it's on a 53 plate but not sure of production date til I dig out my v5. I,have both wheels off at the moment so will be easy to see
four wheels move the body....two wheels move the soul!!

How do you find out the production date, can this be got from Aprilia with the VIN? Date of registration on the V5 could be months or years after the bike was 'made'
Happy to check the numbers on my Edwards when I get home

Cheers Phil but don't worry, I got the part number sorted after a few emails round various Öhlins places. For reference to anyone in need the part number for radial fork bottoms is definitely FG8901. They are then dated so the stamp says, for example - using mine:

FG8901 2003.04.04

Now granted this doesn't prove any more than when the batch of fork bottoms were produced and possibly the entire fork as there are no further markings on them that I could find. Externally at least.
