Not sure how widespread this is but our local news has just reported that the Ponderosa Cafe,that well known biker and car meeting place at the Horseshoe Pass,Llangollen North Wales will sadly not be reopening and the owners are bailing out after 40 odd years. They don't say they are trying to sell the place or what the reason for closing down is but I would hazard a guess the blanket 40 Mph speed limit around the pass and the new minimum wage and increased employers Nat Ins contributions may have had an effect. Taken with the closing down of many bike dealers the future doesn't look particularly bright for the riding community in this area.

According to their post on fb they're leaving after 42 years so maybe they're retiring. Still a popular meeting point from what friends who go there regularly say so hopefully someone else will take it on

Hello Mate,how you doing? It's certainly a great meeting place,if only seasonal. I do find it very hard sticking to the new 40 mph limit on roads that I've always traveled at 60 (ish) on though. That's the only destination I've been to on a bike for the past 5 years and I think that was a grand total of 4 round trips on the T. Since 2016 all the Mille has done is the couple of miles to Ruddlan and back to be Mot'd before going back on it's Skylift under covers. The Tuono had a ground up refresh in 2021 and I think I've done less than 300 miles. Crazy me having bikes really

Hi Ian,
Getting back to my old self now. I was diagnosed with lung c#*%er sept 22, chemo and operation feb 23. Lost half lung, could have been lot worse, then 4 more preventative cycles of chemo which finished end july 23 and since yhen been c word free. Regular scans every 6 months. So 2023 was a washout lol as steroids meant i piled weight on. Started losing it last year so got out on the gsx1000s more. Just got to lose bit more weight now. Bloody ridiculous these speed limits around the place now. Did manage to get up to the rhug between bala and Corwen last summer for ride out but traffic was ridiculous like. Still caring for me mam so getting out isn't easy but do get carers in for few hours a week so that helps. Hope you're ok my friend

I'm ok these days thanks, sounds like you've been through the wringer though. The dreaded C is everywhere these days,my bro in law is currently having treatment for prostate cancer. Several of my wife's family have already succumbed to various flavours of it,breast,stomach etc. I hope you're having better luck with the Welsh NHS than is the norm up here. On another note entirely, who'd have thought that A&D would still be open when Woods are history? An update to that is the old Woods/completely bikes shop is now wearing new signs and the Triumph and Ducati dealers frontage is up again. I had been told on the quiet that some old friends would likely pop up there but as yet I'm not sure who or when.

I hope woods starts up again. Yea we lost dad to c word, mams got breast c*#@er but thankfully its treatable with tablets. I hate the bloody disease. The nhs were/are brilliant. X ray in sept and something detected so had scan straight away, various scans, one in Wrexham and a biopsy in glangwili etc, meeting with consultant in Swansea started chemo in dec 22, operation in feb 23 then 4 cycles preventative chemo and all done by end july 23. I've got nothing but praise for everyone involved, oncologist was superb as were chemo dept in aberystwyth.
Mates just bought a gsx1000s from a&d...picked it up today. I see Alan's daughters running it now
