Afternoon all just signed up to this forum after buying an 04 rsv Mille yesterday. I previously had a fireblade rrw and what a difference! This aprilia is on rails I love it , I live in Devon and rode it 90 miles home and didn’t want to get off it was an utter pleasure to ride . And considering I paid £1600 for it and all it really needs is a rear tyre I think I had a bargain.

Where in Devon are you, there are a few sw based owners on here. 

You can’t upload direct from your phone to the forum without membership. You can either upload to a third party image host and then insert the link in your post or email them to the forum address ( forum at rsvr.net ) and we post them for you.

Hi all my mille has a cracked headlight protector glass does anyone have any ideas for a fix ? Does the glass itself come away from the headlight unit ? Or is it a complete replacement which is obviously going to to be silly money cheers .

You can cook the headlamp in an over and pull the lense off but there are no replacements 

A headlight protector may be the way forward

Hi can anyone confirm a side stand replacement for the mille? I have googled that a fireblade one goes straight on but will any model or year one fit thanks .

04 -08 fire blade stand works. AP workshops sell them. A US spec Rsv stand is the best option if you can find one.

Yes it’s possible to slide the front sprocket out with enough slack in the chain.

Great stuff thanks spoons just checked and I have a 17 tooth on at the moment and the the bike needs clutch at low speeds and from what I have read a 16 tooth will improve this .

Yes it makes a noticeable difference to the get up and go in general. The gearing is too tall from stock unless using motorways a fair bit. All of the press bikes at time of launch had lowered gearing to make the bike feel more punchy.

Getting on really well with the bike only had it a few weeks ago, just fitted a Michelin power 6 on the back as there was a new one on the front and it’s insane in the corners. The blade I had prior was nothing on this on the bends when I hit it I told the wife I would ride it sensibly but that gone out the window it doesn’t like slow !! I’m 63 next week and riding like I did back in the day 😂 best bike I’ve had bar none and for next to nothing happy days 😊

I've got 15/45 gearing on my Gen 1 Tuono, works best for me.

Sounds good , the drive sprockets are dirt cheap do i will try the 16 and see how it goes then maybe a 15 , I am going to replace the chain and sprockets in a couple of months so I should know what works best by then .

Just done an oil and filter change and obviously the cowboys have been at this bike , took the oil filter out and it was a small filter behind a large filter housing !!! Then couldn’t get the magnetic sump plug out as the Allen head is rounded over so drained what I could and refilled . Next step is to purchase some good bolt / stud extractors and do the job again, new oil , another filter and o ring and drain bolt and hopefully do the job properly. I don’t get why people scrimp by using a worn drain bolt or the wrong filter which had a completely flat o ring plastered in silicone sealer ! If a garage did this they should be closed down but its more likely a previous owner who had no idea what he was doing 🤮

I watched a guy from Torquay on YouTube the other day who was servicing a gsxr750 for his mate. When he drained the oil, part of a bolt fell out in the oil as well as bits of metal. Anyway he did the service after advising the guy who said he didn’t want to investigate further. But when he went to test drive it, the clutch was so stiff he could barely move it. Turns out that a clutch plate retaining bolt had snapped hence the bits in the oil etc and the abnormal clutch but the guy had continued to ride it like that for something like a year before the service and wasn’t bothered. So nothing surprises me as to what people will do to save a few quid. Chances are that metal in the oil has compromised that engine as a result.

The magnetic sump plug isnt an allen head, its a torx head.
At least it is on my Gen 1 Tuono, can't see the Mille being different.

Mine is an Allen headed plug. Not seen a torx one before. 
Ktm do a proper bolt headed sump plug that fits which seems the sensible option to me
