Those +ve and -ve leads look very close to me, I'd put a cover on one of them. Ditto the Croc clamps. Is your +ve lead fused?
People say I don't know Jack Sh1t; but I do, he lives next door.

I see what you mean the picture makes them look worse than it is though.
There’s actually a 3/4” gap if you compare to the size of the PC3 and the charger and lead are short protected any way.
I could actually use the single lead and put the -ve to the frame…..that would have save me a bit of wiring, too - doh!

LED illumination- just for the hell of it:

Switched to come on with the headlights - see earlier pic of discrete switch.

Changed the red LEDs for white….just in case Mr Plod takes an interest & bought a couple of cats - to reduce the vast expanse of black - well, that’s my excuse:

Widened my old/cheap paddock stand, also added a brace to stop it wobbling, am more confident using it on my own & don’t have to rely on my stepson being around:

Better charging connection, following the observation by Stevex and using the old alternator connectors:

Flying leads for 9V battery connection of DJIII, just waiting for battery connector, to enable replacing the originally mapped settings - without having to have the engine running in my tiny shed:

Rethink on alarm & hotwire lock-out
All now stuffed under rhs of seat unit - ‘loud as f**k’ alarm now has Lithium batteries which are charged when 1: the alarm is off and 2: the engine is running - via a 12 to 5V drop- down regulator. Hotwire lock out is achieved by a latching relay that enables the side stand switch and the tilt switch for good measure.
Effectively there are 5 levels of anti- theft:
1: Disc lock
2: anti-tamper vibration detection
3: immobiliser
4: current and voltage change detection
5: anti-hotwire latching interlocked switches.
All brought about as a mate has just had his brand new Africa twin stolen - despite HISS and in broad daylight!
Reverse polarity and current/voltage sensing unit yet to be wired in.

Do you live in a high crime area?

Sorry missed that last bit

Unfortunately if they want it they will take it these days

I’d be tempted to make something that locks it in gear stopping the little sh*ts from breaking the steering lock , cutting disc locks off and rolling them away often pushed along by someone on a scooter

……my thoughts exactly……..one of the hotwire relays contacts is going to be wired to a solenoid which will push a rod through the rear disc…..this will also activate if the alarm sounds.
High crime area - no but my paranoia has worsened as I run out of things to do on the bike!

Riser plates take 2 - currently in the roughed out/needs proper profiling and finishing but: they work:

Pix in no sort of order but, the gist of it is replaced dodgy worm-drive hose clips with Oetiker as well as replacing the fairing mounting pillar that was looking the worse for wear…some time last year I managed to get a used set of fairing fittings for less than the price of said pillar….if you could still get new ones

Improvements
The 200A solenoid turns out to be a bit sensitive to voltage drops - most likely due to a mismatch in coil impedance compared to the original so I am now running a primary relay to drive it directly from the battery, located under the seat unit on the right hand side.

I know the other issue - the huge Carmo reg/rec - is turning into a bit of a saga but it is now finally finished! It was bolted directly to the subframe but as it’s running temperature is 40 to 65 degrees C, I thought it was time to bolt it to a 100x100x5mm plate with heat sink goo:

Not related directly to the ape but shed additions that will greatly help - LED strip light and a little shelf for a small heater to keep the Austrian/Italian blood warm.

Anybody got LiFeP04 battery recommendations?
I’m thinking of upgrading to a 14 series Noco - with 500 CCA & yes - the Carmo reg/rec produces the requisite 14+ voltage.

Thanks 426hemi I will add that to my, now shorter, list.

The build up to finally getting back in the saddle begins….only been waiting 16 months and about 2 to go…..
