So after finally diagnosing my front end brake judder, which was the brake rotors, I'm now experiencing the brakes binding. This is with brand new EBC rotors and new EBC pads.
I notice the brakes not releasing, pull over pretty sharpish and the calipers are hot (not red hot because I stop before that), and the lever is solid. After a few mins the lever loosens up, the pads release and off I go again. It'll be ok for 10 mins of light on/off braking, all seems normal, then it'll bind again. Same symptoms then off I go again. Sounds like a Master Cylinder issue. After talking to racesparesuk who do MC rebuilds he thinks it could be the old seals. Soft seals could be blocking the fluid from going back into the reservoir. The MC was quite clean with no obvious blockages. (Oh ive also rebuilt the calipers recently, so not them). Bleeding the systems was easy too, no forcing of fluid, everything flowed easily. Ive dismantled the MC and the seals look pretty flared and quite soft. RacesparesUK tell me you can't get a rebuild kit for this Brembo MC. RSVR Mille 2002 non radial. He recons I just need to get some new seals. The piston itself will be fine. 15mm od by 46mm long is the piston spec. Ive found a couple on wemoto, but they are kits and one is only 43mm long and the other is 45.8mm long but has a different spring and push rod. But they are very similar to mine...see picture at the end. I can't find anywhere that can sell me just the seals. Does anyone know, or have bought some? I don't know what to do. Buy the 45.8mm kit and use my spring (if it'll fit). If not then attempt to take the seals off and put them on mine. But that looks like a tricky job as they look tight. My thinking being, stretching new ones over the body of the piston would be ok, but trying to prise them out would easily damage them. Thoughts? Heres my MC internals ![]() |

Personally I’d either buy a Gen2 radial master (will be old naturally) or an aftermarket Brembo RCS brake master or Accossato brake master.
If the seals aren’t available from Ducati or Ktm maybe? I fitted a spare Gen 2 radial master on my axial Suzuki gsxr1000 k2 abs it made a dramatic difference. Possibly another radial master off a doner bike would fit just as easily

I guess you have checked that the fluid level is not too high.

I'd call Griff and see where he would source them. |

It's all in bits now, but when I topped up the reservoir I had it on max (or close to). I made sure not to over fill it.

Spoke to the man griff. He reckons to not bother messing about with aftermarket MC internals and just buy a second hand one. The aftermarket stuff he think won't last that long. Which considering I can't get one that's an exact match is probably the best plan...
so anyone got one for sale? Gen 1 2002 rsvr non radial.
