Hi,
I have to increase the idle screw when I start the bike (right hand side screw below the tank) when it is cold. (Also putting on the throttle adjust before starting). If I leave it at the normal riding position it would cut out after putting the throttle adjust back down after starting it.
Once riding and warming up I need to reduce the idle otherwise the idle revs will be a bit high (2k+ instead of 1250).
Any thoughts on what could be causing this?
Thanks

How long are you leaving it before you shut the fast idle off ?

have you ever adjusted throttle cables or fast idle cable , had the throttle bodies set up by some one that knows what they are doing ?

cables stretch, bolts/screws vibrate loose over time

could be as simple as this

Only a few seconds before I shut it off. So near enough once ot starts. I adjust the idle screw before I start it though otherwise it would probably cut out as the revs get so low. I
Throttle cables have been replaced, a couple of years ago maybe.
Although if it was something like that, why would the idle need adjusting when it's warm?
Never had the throttle bodies setup.

Are you sure the fast idle lever is actually doing anything at the tb’s. It essentially opens the throttle so exactly the same thing as the idle screw so it’s either not doing its job or not opening it enough. Maybe the cable has broken etc.

I suspect the fast idle isn’t opening the throttle enough. If it was it should be putting the revs outside of the range of the idle control.

So you mean that if the fast idle is fully on then adjusting the idle screw shouldn't do anything?
At the moment if I pull the switch down fully before I start it will rev to about or a little over 3k.

Something is not right if your bike will stall at 3k when cold. From memory the idle screw only goes +/- 500rpm. You could try setting the tps but maybe the tb’s and co needs a proper setup.

I would think a tb setup was long overdue if you've never had it done.

It amazing what a difference having it done can make if the adjustment is off.

yep as mentioned previously a throttle  body setup by someone that knows these hikes can change the way the bike samrarts and rides 👍

also the fast idle leaver should hit about 5k if o remember correctly

not got one on the falco just wind the idle a couple of turns , start it without touching the throttle lever and wind back the idle one warm , Rob who owned  it previously didn’t swap the fast idle onto the 57’s 👍 works a treat best starting april i have had £
