A not exactly technical question in the technical section Ok, hold my hands up. Don't laugh. ![]() These quick release pins from AP have me stumped?
Firstly the threaded pins won't screw down completely into the hole vacated by the original bolt, do they really need forcing down? Secondly, what secures the metal and foam washer in place on the pin itself? does it need securing at all? In my minds eye, I can see how it should work, but actually trying to make sense of it and fit it correctly isn't happening, well, I must be thick! Please help, it's eating away at my masculinity ![]() Les. |

screw them in to a level that suits your seat allowing room for the washer that’s there for a base for the r clip to sit on
get the correct height etc then you can remove them fit some thread lock and use the lock nut to lock them in position just found this from way back when QUICK RELEASE SEAT PINSRemove your seat and using the original bolts screw these as far as they will possibly go to clean up the threads ready for the seat pins. Lay the seat on and take a measurement from the frame to the top of the seat plastic….then assemble the pin with the nut first and star washer, you should be able to set the rough height required using the previous measurement. Remember to factor in the height of the self-adhesive black rubber washer that is to be stuck on the seat, the metal washer goes between the rubber washer and r-clip. Please note: after feedback I have been told you may need a round file or similar to add a bit of clearance on the seat base as the seats vary across the years. Lock down the nut once the height is set and you should aim to align the hole so its easy to remove and refit the r-clip. You can also use some thread-lock to ensure the pin doesn’t move. |

Thanks for the reply.
I've fitted them, the only way that looks logical to me anyway. But the "self adhesive rubber washers" were not self adhesive, or they may have been but they were already stuck to the metal washers so unable to be stuck to the seat. So they and the metal washers are loose meaning whenever I remove the seat I've got to be careful not to lose them, or maybe contact AP for new ones! Not a big deal really, just a bit annoying really. Les |

no the selfadhesive ones were the old version ..apologies forgot to delete that
there no nice way to get around the problem although i’d probably mould something if i was going to revisit the design and maybe have something 3d printed
